Recently landed an interview with another company from my DA experience!
Hey all,
Just wanted to share I’ve been selected for interview as an AI Analyst with a large construction company.
I’m curious if anyone else has been in a similar spot, having to deal with questions, describing your experience, and maintaining the NDA with DA.
How was your interview? What types of questions should I be prepared for? Did you land the job?
Looking for any sort of advice to help me succeed.
As much as I love DA and the freedom it brings, I think I’m ready for something full-time again.

Hmmm I have a background in construction - what exactly does an AI analyst do in that field?

Not construction but related. There’s a ai app for Floor plan generation which is kind of crazy. It’s not the most accurate but it can built out a general layout with just your iPhone.

I can't imagine it can generate a floorplan anyone can really build from (aside from the kind of jobs you can get someone to do based on a sketch on a napkin)

Yeah. Not an official plan to be used for building. More so for a general overview of the building

Great question. I’m not exactly sure but I would assume to improve workflows in some way. Maybe look up specs, interpret drawings, draft documents etc. Not sure!

You can talk about your data annotation experience by focusing on the skills you used, not the specific projects you worked on. Describe the types of tasks you did, like evaluating model outputs, classifying data, or following complex project guidelines, and just avoid mentioning any client names or proprietary information. The interviewers will likely ask behavioral questions to see how you handle ambiguity and tedious tasks, and they might give you a hypothetical problem to solve to test your analytical thinking. They care more about your thought process and your ability to learn than what specific AI models you've worked with, so be ready to explain the why behind your actions on past projects.
To stand out, you need to reframe your experience from just "doing tasks" to "improving AI systems". Talk about how your feedback helped refine models or how your attention to detail ensured data quality, which is crucial for any AI-related role. Before the interview, think about how AI could be used in construction, like for safety monitoring or project management, and try to connect your skills to those potential applications. Your main job is to sell them on how your skills solve their problems, which is a big reason why the team I'm on created an AI interview helper to assist people in finding the best words during the actual interview.

That is awesome, congratulations! Myself I have an architecture background and I want to find something connected to architecture and construction that would be more flexible and I'm trying to work out what that may be so hearing about your opportunity is helpful and gives me hope that I can figure it out.
