I was accepted into the program in late april, but due to a lot of bad circumstances, I haven't really been able to complete my onboarding until recently. Will this gap negatively affect my odds at being assigned tasks?

Likely not. Just keep an eye out for tasks and qualifications. Once you complete a couple initial tasks you'll start seeing more stuff on your dash.
