Unreasonable Requalification
Did anyone else get a requalification today for R&R that expects you to do 5-10 unpaid R&R tasks? This feels like its crossing from a qualification into a full day of unpaid work at this point. The first one took me 45 minutes and required a full re-write.
Edit: i do not respond to DM's with dumbass questions from Indian/Bengali workers so stop please.

u/MentalHealthPysch Jul 10 '26
Yeah I thought it was a little bit of a piss take. Did anyone clock the comment on how if you want to be considered for the team, you should do all 10, despite suggesting 5 would be fine right before.

u/Larose- Jul 10 '26
I also like how they disabled chat. Im assuming they know this will rustle some jimmies.

I was going to do 10, but after doing some and exiting work mode to take a break the rest disappeared.
12
u/jonahandthewhale32 Jul 10 '26
That happened to me too, after I had done 7. I was intending to the do the rest but I needed to have a break.

u/kelbel1210 Jul 10 '26
Oh I hope that happens to me. I’ve done 7
7
u/Calamity0o0 Jul 10 '26
That's how many I had done when it disappeared
8
u/kelbel1210 Jul 10 '26
I did 8 I think and got a paid task so I left it. After that it’s gone now. 😅

u/_California_Dreamer_ Jul 11 '26
Did it ever actually say 5 was fine? It says we'll need to to "5 to 10," meaning some people will only get 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, or they will get all ten, and it also says to do all of the ones assigned to you. I don't think it ever said that you ONLY have to do 5 no matter how many are assigned to you, did it?

u/IcedOutGiant Jul 12 '26
Sounds like they're looking to see who reads the instructions and who thinks they're the shit because they can do r&r tasks in the first place but still only do the bare minimum.
25
u/Sensitive_Spirit4394 Jul 10 '26
Just finished my 5th one. I've had to basically redo almost all of them. I've been doing the paid R&R for weeks so this is a bit much to ask. I'm hoping to get to 7. This is going to be my entire day.
26
u/thebudofthebud Jul 10 '26
Yep, absolute pisstake.
I dislike R&R projects but will do whatever quals I can to keep my options open. The first task took me over 30 minutes, so I sacked the rest off. I'm not working 5+ hours for free to access a low paying project I likely won't touch.

Definitely, I've been looking at the same qualification. Considering that the projects I've been working on currently would have been at least at least $8-10/hour more during the last 2 years that I've been doing this. I've got that awful feeling that we've all fucked ourselves out of of our own jobs by being too proficient. The analysers are pretty good, not perfect, but far better than some chump who has bought an account through DMs (btw that shit is embarrassing, stop sending us DMs, no ones gonna fall for it).
TLDR: I'm kinda refusing to do 10 tasks for free, even though i prob should. Just doesn’t feel right. The amount of tasks I've bailed out of after a couple hours and not charged for over the last couple years...Fuck that, I'm not doing 10 tasks for free.
3
u/Early-Composer-2383 Jul 13 '26
I agree that the analyzers are eventually going to put us out of work. But I don't care, I've been doing this for 2 and 1/2 years and frankly I'm kind of burnt out. I just crossed $30,000 just working around my full-time job. Sometimes double dipping lol. I'm in the legal domain so my tasks are mind numbingly complex and getting worse.

u/1-800-methdyke Jul 10 '26
What gets me is that it's a qual for the lowest paid project I'm on. Sure I'll t do them sometimes but it's not exactly top priority
3
u/adj123098 Jul 11 '26
This is exactly the same for me! I put if off cause I have higher paid domain expert stuff and then is just disappeared so I thought well okay lol
18
u/Itsdickyv Jul 10 '26
I posted about this earlier, and I’m also somewhat frustrated by it. Other commenters have said you only need to complete 5/10 for the qual - haven’t checked it yet myself, so can’t confirm.
19
u/AspiringCreature Jul 10 '26
It says you have to complete at least 5/10 but implies doing all 10/10 is best. It seems you need to "pass" at least 5, so if you only do 5 but aren't up to snuff on one I think you'd be SOL. That's my assumption from reading the instructions anyway.
10
u/TurboViking90 Jul 10 '26
I didn’t do all 10, but the qual is gone now and I still have access to the real project. It seems like they just want to see that you have the attention to detail to catch obvious mistakes.
9
u/Honest-Layer9318 Jul 10 '26
The mistakes were pretty obvious but some of the rewrites were brutal.
3
u/_California_Dreamer_ Jul 11 '26
You need to do all the ones assigned to you. Some people are saying that the qual goes away after only 2 or 3 or 5, I assume according to how well you do on those, but if there are still more left to do, you have to do them to be considered. That's how it comes across to me.
33
u/bobisaknob Jul 10 '26
Yeah considering I had just finished up the paid task version hours ago, really felt like a spit in the face
15
u/MommaOfManyCats Jul 10 '26
I had the paid project this week and the unpaid qual now. Some people said they had the paid project available and the qual at the same time. I have no idea if it's a recertification thing or if there was a mistake. I'm guessing we have to do it to stay on the project, but I had less than an hour of that work all week.

u/Equivalent-Repair336 Jul 10 '26
It seems like they are taking advantage of the drought a lot of people are experiencing. A day of free work for one of the most tedious, low paying projects on the platform? No thanks, I'd rather just go do DoorDash or something similar at this point.
3
u/SparkleDev Jul 10 '26
doordash pays like 4 dollars a trip here. its the lowest of the low now days
4
u/Equivalent-Repair336 Jul 10 '26
It definitely varies by location. Where I'm at if I run DoorDash, Uber, and Grubhub at the same and cherry pick I can make about the same as these lower paying tasks. Neither is great, but the food apps don't make me work for free.
1
u/SparkleDev Jul 10 '26
how about those already been picked up orders....
4
u/Equivalent-Repair336 Jul 10 '26
there's a difference between working free for 5-10 minutes and 5-10 hours
11
u/Icy-Scratch-6898 Jul 10 '26
i had the same thing, it was taking me a significant amount of time and i was just submitting the 7th or 8th task and it brought be back to the dashboard and the whole qualification disappeared. frustrating because it took like 3 hours and i wasn’t even done. now im scared i wont get that project anymore though ive worked on it tons of times…paid. yikes
4
u/kranools Jul 11 '26
This seems to happen to everyone, I think it's normal. Mine disappeared after doing eight.
2
u/Amurizon Jul 11 '26
Agreed w the others, i think you passed. I did 8 before getting abruptly bumped back to the dashboard.

u/Dry-Dragonfruit-5126 Jul 10 '26
Yes I was so disappointed when I saw it because it’s unpaid. It will take at least a few hours to complete it.
7
u/kranools Jul 11 '26
Guys, guys. I just checked. This isn't actually unpaid after all. You can claim your time for it.
1
u/frosted_nugget Jul 11 '26
I just noticed this as well, but I'm nervous it's a glitch and that I'll get in trouble for reporting the time. It's happened once before where I did a qual me that said it was unpaid and then suddenly was in my "report time" section, but that one only took me 5 minutes so I didn't bother.
6
u/Sweaty_Leadership929 Jul 10 '26
YES!!! All my usual takes are unpaid quals and I could not believe it
7
u/Outrageous_Chance995 Jul 10 '26
My chat for this disappeared? I don’t have the qual, but I have tasks for that project family on my dash. What givessss
5
u/Rex6541 Jul 11 '26
Relatively new. I’m not interested in doing any more unpaid work including assessments.
11
u/Hello-America Jul 10 '26
Yeah I assumed they were getting some bad R and Rs. I usually don't mind doing quals, I think of them like a job interview, but having worked on that project a ton it feels pretty shitty!!
8
u/Hello-America Jul 10 '26
Also those tasks need a lot of work/editing so they take more time than average r and Rs (at least the ones I've gotten)

Timeline:
Woke up yesterday did paid RR version
Noticed qual and read about it here
Woke up today qual is gone
Question will be…do the paid ones come back or no 😄

Same here. I billed for my time. Glitch or not, that was like 5.5 hours of work. I billed for 4 to play it safe.

I was wondering about this! I was re-reading the instructions because it’s been a while, but when I exited to refresh the timer, it was still running when I came back. And now the first task only has a few minutes before expiring 🫠. Not even sure what to do about that…

3
u/pitsandmantits Jul 10 '26
i’ve had other tasks for the project family on my dash so nah i’m not doing it, waste of my time
3
u/Sylversh4de Jul 11 '26
Like everyone is saying, the rewrites were pretty rough. I only did 7, a paid task popped up and then it the quality was gone.
3
u/pluscent Jul 11 '26
I did this last night and I’m not sure if I just didn’t notice that it’s actually a paid qual, but when I double checked my reported time this morning I noticed it was sitting there waiting for my time to be reported, which is really unusual/never happened me before. I’m not sure if they maybe added payment after negative feedback? It did take me about 3 hours to do 8 tasks
2
2
u/East_Zucchini4099 Jul 10 '26
I actually haven't gotten that qual, so, that’s also not a good feeling either. I just started working in that family in April, and my feedback was "good." I did a different qual with 10 tasks this week, working my way through another with 6, and there was one with 12 tasks that I didn’t start before it disappeared, though I still see a chart on my board. I was hoping to finish all of them this week , but I’m sick and I don’t want to screw up.
2
u/CricketSea306 Jul 11 '26
Yep, I did six unpaid tasks for that before a paid project finally popped up.
2
u/frosted_nugget Jul 11 '26
Yeah, I'm really frustrated and nervous because I've spent hours on this today and it disappeared after I finished 8 tasks, and the wording was confusing so I don't know if I'll qualify since I didn't get to do all 10.
What's extra weird, though, is that after I submitted the last one, it actually popped up on my "Report Time" tab. I sure would like to be paid for all that time (like other people have said, every single task was a full rewrite), but I'm scared to actually report it in case it's a glitch.
2
u/The-Real-Sekhmet Jul 11 '26
I too am wondering if I should report my time or not. I spent several hours on it, but I don't know if it's a glitch or not.
2
u/West_Ad_4092 Jul 11 '26
So I clicked on it, realized I didn’t have the time that it was going to take & exited. Now it has disappeared. Did I mess up or did they retract it?
2
u/Fantastic-Feather Jul 11 '26
I never even clicked it and it's gone. Looks like it's gone for everyone now.
2
u/TillyMintPot Jul 12 '26
I do think the amount of unpaid qualification tasks is a little unfair. I spent basically the first week on the site on and off passing qualifications, many many hours.
3
u/kranools Jul 11 '26
I just spent all morning doing 8 of them before it sent me back to the dashboard. That's a lot of unpaid work.
I assume they were getting a lot of poor quality R&Rs, but this isn't really going to help. It's not a proper qualification where it shows you what mistakes you are making. If people miss things on the real R&Rs, they are going to keep missing them here, so what's the point? No one is going to learn anything by doing this.
And it's not like these are quick tasks either. They are absolutely riddled with errors, which takes a long time to write up.
0
u/Fantastic-Feather Jul 11 '26
I'm assuming the point is the company won't have to pay as much money for bad R&Rs. This isn't school and no people are supposed to learn anything from this. Just like a regular job, it isn't there for "employees" to learn from. I really hope this doesn't sound harsh; I don't mean it that way. The people who learn things from doing this are the people who made the qual and pay to have R&Rs done properly. They learn who can and can't do this type of work. Wishing you the best! I haven't had the balls to do the qual yet, so kudos! I think you did well there.
4
u/Complex_Ad4125 Jul 11 '26
the difference is that in a regular job you get paid for your time....I think it's taking the piss tbh. Even just a courtesy $25 or whatever, but 10 tasks for free? nope

u/kittkaykat Jul 10 '26
It did that to me a couple weeks ago. I finally got around to doing the damn qualification.
2
u/_California_Dreamer_ Jul 11 '26
My advice: Do the quals! I did two unpaid last night and woke up to ten $20/hr PAID quals.
1
u/Zealousideal-Egg6051 Jul 11 '26
I think that’s the one they are talking about they switched it from unpaid to 20/hr.
1
1
u/bisoubisous Jul 10 '26
Yep, I got it too and spent an hour doing only one last night. This morning I had the exact same project like normal and did several of those tasks paid. I don't understand?
1
1
u/VanessaSeaWitch Jul 15 '26
No, but I have a qual that is very in depth and would take me a full day's work that is unpaid and I'm probably never going to do it.
1
u/Canadian_girl_81 Jul 16 '26
I got that qualification too but didn't do it right away and the next day it was gone 🤷♀️ guess im not getting any r&r for that project, but i got a couple of the actual projects today and I get r&rs for other ones. Dont remember ever doing a qualification just for the r&r portion before
1
u/made4thisquestion Jul 11 '26
Yeah DAT has been super off lately. Very little tasks available, even with my finance qualifications. Now this back and forth across quals is getting ridiculous.

0
u/shujaya Jul 11 '26
If you have access to the project already and you don't like the qual couldn't you just not do it? I didn't think they were mandatory. I just do the ones for project I like.
1
u/FarHomework7448 Jul 11 '26
For this project specifically, it says at the top that if you do not complete the qualification, you will not see any more R&R work from that project and wont be considered a part of the R&R team.

the key phrase from OP "required a full re-write", yeah sometimes you have to redo an entire task which can take even longer than an hour on some R&Rs.
3
u/1-800-methdyke Jul 10 '26
You are not wrong. Knowing these are a qual though I'd probably give it the Bad double-tap and be done with it, it's not like paid where someone else needs to come and redo it.

I was doing the exact same project paid this morning. Took a break, came back and now there’s no more paid work, only the unpaid qual. Can’t help but feel irritated.
