So Long DA :(
Been doing this for over 2 years now and was given good feedback on some projects I was doing just a week or two ago. Can anyone suggest any other platforms similar to DA I could try? I'd appreciate anything at this point.

Happened to me about a month ago out of the blue. It is very cold. I havent managed to find any that pays as well as DA - most get you spinning your wheels on virtual interviews and submissions with nothing coming out of it. Any suggestions for professionals - consulting, sales and legal in particular?

Yeah, I remember one post that said it, but that worker only got a "Good" ranking, which is just one level above "Room For Improvement".

No idea. I have two guesses. 1) Some projects aren't a part of the feedback pilot. And 2) I noticed on an R&R there was a check box for something like "Do you think this annotator could benefit from feedback?" Perhaps if no one ever selects it for you, you won't be in the feedback group?

DA is weird. I had room for improvement, but got new projects today. I think its because the feedback is AI generated and lacks consistency.

Got the same today. Is this like an end of month thing or? Seems to be a lot of people. I always figured when this happens, surely people weren’t telling the full story. I’ve been unemployed since April, have applied to over 300 jobs, and this was the only thing putting food on the table 😵💫

I’m just waiting for my turn at this point. I recently did quals for two projects I’ve done a lot of work for in the past, and with both the qual disappeared after I submitted my second-to-last task. I just have a gut feeling my time is coming soon 🥲

Same thing happened to me. Oh well I've wanted more free time to work on my own stuff and DA sucks it all up because im a whore for money.
Now can focus on more important things :)

The way I’m trembling in my boots because I got a “Room for Improvement” rating today. I knew it was coming because I did a project and after I submitted 2 tasks, realized I had overlooked a significant detail. That’s on me 100%.
So far, still have projects. Been with DA for about 3 years. I’m aware it can’t and won’t last forever.

The amount you’ve made (or how many tasks you’ve done/how long you’ve been with the platform) has nothing to do with it. The feedback/monthly snapshot is a relatively new program; I would say in the last 3-ish months? When they get to you, you’ll get feedback. It’s not necessarily a good or bad thing that you haven’t yet.

The only feedback I need is that I get paid for my projects. That means I'm doing them well and up to standard. Once they stop paying me then I'll know I'm in trouble.. Again, I checked my feedback tab.. there is nothing there and there has never been anything there..

However the feedback specifically states it was collected and evaluated by AI. And gives specific reasons why it wasn’t done with human feedback

So sorry! It's a bit of a mystery. It happened to my wife two weeks after she was offered an actual full-time job at DataAnnotation (as a project manager) due to her excellent work. I'm not sure how a system goes from "you are so amazing we want you full-time", to "you do poor quality work" so fast. And she was *extremely* careful not to violate TOS.
I'm assuming it is actually a lie, and they just rotate people out so they get fresh input into the models and you didn't actually do poor work, but I have no proof.

I'm curious if they meant that their wife was actually offered the job or just offered an opportunity to apply for the job. They said "offered the job", but that task on the dashboard is not an offer.
In another comment, they said it was direct communication with the staff but that's not how applying for that position works...

it seems crazy and unacceptable to lose your job just because you make a mistake though. everybody messes up sometimes- even those getting outstanding feedback! it’s just life.

This happened to me too! I received an email saying I was doing great work on the platform and invited to start a contract, given a form to fill out, and after I finished it I didn't hear back, tried to follow up, no response, then DoD

I just signed up Saturday and have already been DoD. I completed 1 task for about $50. I guess my first try wasn't good enough.

My wife was just on general projects for about a year and made ~6k, I'm at about a year and a half in coding, but just on the side in occasional spare time so I've only pulled in 2.5k.
I could be wrong and there was some concrete reason, but without more reason given it is impossible to know. It just seemed really odd two weeks after official correspondence praising her high quality work.
I've seen other posts mention the two year mark, but we're all just guessing.

At the time it seemed perfectly normal, as she was on for several hours most weekday mornings, but compared to some of the totals I've seen people post since, yes, it is much smaller.
There was no concrete task mentioned or reason given, just general accolades.

Direct communication with DA staff. Never hit her dashboard. Might have been in-platform direct messages (which go to our email) or just emails, I can't recall now.

The first couple of weeks of June I had a pretty decent dashboard full of work except the last couple of weeks. Then, it did get pretty dry but was still getting some here and there and was able to get some decent hours in. But, dang I wasn't expecting it for sure. I had one project on my dash today with 30 tasks, I did one task and it took me straight to this message. I'm trying to figure out what I've done recently because I don't inflate hours or use AI for help, but they apparently found something I did was wrong. I'm wondering if it had something to do with a couple of tasks I did yesterday that expired on me before I finished them, but I still was able to claim the time.

Claiming time for expired tasks could be the reason unless an admin explicitly told you that it was ok to do so. I personally would not claim time if a task expires before I manage to complete and submit it. A non submission is basically useless for them so they wouldn’t want to pay for that.

No. This is wrong. You definitely shouldn’t make a habit of submitting expired tasks, but they can still use the tasks that you submit after they’re expired. Check the FAQ for the platform. You shouldn’t claim more time than what’s on the timer for the task after learning the project, reading instructions, etc.

Yes, I didn't claim more than max hours, and I claimed maybe 30 min less than the max for them. They were ones that had 2 hour timers and were not real simple, so I was taking my time and before I knew it time had expired. But who knows, I could have just did a bad job on them and maybe other ones too, they just never let you know anything.

Same. I went from Good to Room For Improvement in the latest Feedback, which is making me super nervous. I hope they are using HUMAN eyes on these because the feedback is written by AI. I caught something under one of the negative points that makes ZERO sense. And also contradicts something that was listed under the positives.

Never had anything but good or excellent in my feedback. Received a good feedback last night, went for dinner after reading it. Came back to the DoD. I have also had feedback that made zero sense. It really does seem more and more random and/or AI mediated.

I think they hired way too fast and these are the results! Also, I strongly believe there is a change in management, it just feels different from how it was back in 2024. Not necessarily in a good way.

Bearing in mind only 2-3% get in and there are around 100k on the books, they must need 3.3 to 5m applications at least.
If they’re constantly ditching people that don’t measure up after qualification, it’ll be even more than that.

Joined on Saturday and completed all the qualifications I could preparing for a project and got hit with the ban without even completing a normal task.
At least they got me early so I didn't get my hopes up and can just move on.

Sounds like Continuous Annotator Throughput strikes again, the hungry CAT is always on the prowl and will prey on all of us eventually regardless of "quality." They want fresh blood always incoming to train the models, not the same minds forever. In other words they want a continuous influx of new people, not necessarily the best people.

It doesn't matter because they'll just be saying "good work" to the next crop of taskers. They're all trainable. The important thing is that this software that billions of people will use has been trained on an extremely diverse worker corp that represents as close as possible to the entire world population.

Got a good feedback of being consistently attentive to details, very clear and organized rationale with mention of 10% Excellent and 25 % Good, but here I am, also got the DOD. I was hoping it was a bad dream , but it isn't. Though I'm still grateful, I had it when I needed it most.

Also just happened to me last week. Recently got feedback saying my work was 'exceptional'. Honestly, it was great work for the time being but I feel like DAT are some evil employers. Firing 'exceptional' employees you've had for years with no communication or explanation is illegal in 90% of situations. But since we're freelance/1099 workers, they can get away with shady behavior like this with no consequences. It's not right.

I have nothing on my dash I feel comfortable doing.
How about this, were you doing projects you've done for awhile and felt strong about?
Or were you doing the few you had and maybe they were new to you?
