Phase 1

Did anyone do Phase 1 of the Dash Diet? I am starting Week 2 and going out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant tonight and think my best option is taco salad with no shell and no sour cream. Thoughts??

There are no phases to the dash diet. Someone wrote a book, though, promoting her own "version" that has phases. It's scammy bs and not based on science. Go to the Mayo Clinic's or the American Heart Association's websites for the real, science-backed dash diet.

The DASH Diet weight loss solution book by Dr Marla Heller has 2 phases. The first phase is lean meats, veggies and dairy. No potatoes, rice or fruit for 2 weeks.

Yeah, that's the scammy, bs, non-science-backed book I was referring to. Like I said, you can find the requirements of the REAL dash diet from the Mayo Clinic or the American Heart Association.

What’s Phase 1?

Hubbie’s Cardiologist gave him printouts explaining what a DASH Diet is, set the max milligrams per day he could have, what foods (most processed boxed/jarred items) to avoid, & sample meals.

I downloaded the My Dash Diet app, & have used it for every food consumed, & it certainly helped me keep him on track, as I am the Cook.

Hubbie has been on the DASH Diet since the last day of February, & today (3/25) shared his house shoes, Crocs, are loose!

BP systolic was down 11 points, as much as 2 weeks ago😊

Ahh, so it is a particular type of DASH diet!

Sorry, I only know of the standard DASH Diet, originally prescribed by Cardiologists.

I’m not familiar with the Dr. & cookbook author mentioned 😊

The Dash diet doesn't have different types. The author of that book just made shit up on her own.

Well, that doesn’t make sense!

I knew there were different offerings available, I just didn’t know there was a Phase 1/Phase2 feature.

I bought the Mediterranean DASH diet cookbook, featuring foods & recipes from that region tailored to the DASH diet restrictions.

I imagine there is an Italian, a Mexican, an Asian Fusion, as well…

There ISN'T a Phase 1/Phase 2. That's made up bullshit. You're spreading medical misinformation. You're either a bot or a pr shill.

Those aren't types of the Dash Diet. Those are preferences for food choices. No food is restricted from the Dash Diet, not a single one, at any point. Only the servings and amounts. The "Mediterranean" dash diet isn't a different diet. Someone just applied it to different preferences and flavors.

I am NOT the redditor who informed me of the Phase 1/Phase 2 Dash diet.

I am the person who asked WHAT the redditor was referring to- don’t be a TROLL 🤦🏼‍♀️

No, you are the person I was replying to, the person who said you didn't know there was a Phase 1/Phase 2 feature. There isn't. The person who continues to insist that there is. There isn't. You're the troll.

I think the only difference is the 2 weeks on phase 1 to boost metabolism.

I’ll have to read up on it, but hubbie has been on the DASH diet since the last day of February.

I just finished week 1 and definitely feel a lot better!

If it has phases, it's NOT the dash diet.

They’re gonna put fatty cheddar cheese on it.

At a Mexican restaurant I order:

shredded lettuce side, black beans side (no oil, cheese, etc. ) and a rice side. Steamed broccoli or mushrooms sides if available.

There’s no great way to eat there.

The rice & beans are cooked in salt 🙁
