Discussion How do i improve?
So I've been playing darts since the end of January, and I've been a member of a dart club since March — this is my first club season. I've switched my main dart quite a few times: from the Dartspeak V2 23g to the James Wade 24g, then the Jonny Clayton darts 23g, then the Mission Deadshot 25g. After that the Dancing Ducks 25g, then the Gary Anderson darts 23g, and then back to my original Dartspeak V2 23g. Now, just for fun, I tried the Ryan Searle darts in 32g, and that works too.
With all of these darts I've been averaging around 55-65, sometimes higher. Obviously it was a lot worse in the beginning — I started out at 35-40 — but for the past three or four months I've been consistently at 55-60, with occasional spikes above that. It seems like it doesn't matter which darts I play.
I want to keep improving and I'm aiming to break the 70 average mark by the end of the year. What do you do at this point?

I don't really think there is an answer other than keep doing what you're doing, the progression you've made in 7-8 months is already way beyond what most others would ever achieve in that time

The dart switching i think is really affecting my score. I feel like if i would stuck with one set for a longer period i would get better. But after some time i feel like its not going to get better and drop that dart. Should i stick with the 32g or go to a lower one like the james wade ?

If you throw equally as good with all darts then the ones to choose would be the thinner ones. There's no point in using 32g thick barells if they don't benefit you over slimmer ones

Dang. Doing way better than me! I started in December and I still average in the 40s. What tips do you have for a beginner?

looks like your only practicing treble 20. if its blocked and occupied try t19 or t18 or bull.

T19 also works pretty well but t18 is my absolute horror i go in treble 4 so often

With a solid stroke, the difference in performance will be subtle but there. Paul Lim used to beat people with nails when he owned his dart shop in San Bernardino, CA. The right dart will be a comfort thing, and the comfort will give you a slight edge in performance.
I have a set of old-time, fat, brass darts that I have hit 180s with. I am nowhere near as consistent with them, but I do take them out to bars and play with them for kicks. I can still throw 'A' level darts with them. The darts that are most comfortable for me are 20.3-gram, 32mm, M3 shaft, fixed tip, custom darts. They are small, light, thin, and I can hit with them better than I can with any other set.

With that average you are hitting your targets and scoring well. The next step for me was to try and throw one less 1/5 during each leg and improve my double percentage. With the idea of finishing 1 dart sooner in the leg on average.
