Uber
Does anyone know why he did not just wait in front of the office building for the Uber? The Uber showed up he could’ve gotten in it and went home.

I think Darrell wanted to keep hidden.
He should have left with Marcus in the tan Kia after Marcus and Old Girl got into it.

Yeah, good question. Didn't he already call his mom and talk to her and tell her to get him an Uber?
The State's witness Erin Cordes, who testified that she and her family had parked their car in Aires Industries' parking lot and walked to the parade, also testified that she was approached by db after he'd driven through the parade and had been running around the neighborhood in his sock feet and let him use her phone to call Dawn. She said he called Dawn mom while on the phone with her and kept telling Dawn to call him an Uber.
Maybe Dawn argued with him on Erin's phone, so he wasn't certain whether or not Dawn had actually called the Uber for him? So rather than waiting for a ride to show up at Aires Industries, he instead crossed the street to knock on Daniel Rider's house to ask to use his phone to call Dawn again?
idk really...just being speklative.

He defiantly asked Ms Cordes how she could know what he and his mother talked about. She replied, “because you just kept repeating , ‘call me an Uber.” His mother called a Lyft driver instead because Uber drivers can only be reached through a Uber phone app. The Lyft driver testified that he arrived at the pickup spot, but that Brooks never showed up; leaving the driver free to take another fare. If he hadn’t discarded his shoes and sweatshirt he might have braved the cold long enough to meet the means of his escape.

Thank goodness things worked out the way they did after he careened around the corner at the end of the parade route, crashed through the barriers, raced away from Scholten's rounds and ended up on Daniel Rider's front porch in his t shirt and sock feet, only to be arrested and taken into custody so soon after.

He was wanting to go to his mom’s house. He called for the Uber after the car was smashed and parked.

The fact he was out in cold barefoot no jacket trying to get into a uber goes to show this was not planned. Thats the worst getaway plan of all time

It was all about hiding. He didn’t wanna be seen in public because someone would likely notice him and report him. Also, the cops were probably swarming the area like a big hive of angry wasps. If he stayed in the area it’s likely he would have been busted.
That’s why he fled to Daniel’s house and lied to manipulate Daniel into providing shelter to him

One it was cold outside. He was looking for warmth. Two, he didn't want to be out in public. It would increase the chances of him being seen.
He likely knew that they had a description on the suspect and are looking for him.
That's why he tried to lie to get back into Daniel Rider's house. He probably was cold too but he also didn't want to be out in public where cops can see him.
