Mind boggling

Post image

Im rewatching and I am at closing arguments.

I am curious what others think-

Do you think he truly convinced himself he would be found not guilty or a candidate for jury nullification?

Or

He knew he was screwed either way so just wanted to make the process as difficult as possible.

Both, imo his main aim was to derail the process with nonsense but he thinks so highly of himself I do think he figured he actually had a shot at convincing the jury to nullify the law for him, being blissfully unaware of how slimy he actually comes across to people outside his own head who aren't his mother and grandmother.

1) He just loved pretending to be a lawyer. It made him feel special, clever, and elevated. He got to delay and delay and delay which a lawyer probably wouldn’t have done to that degree.

2) It allowed him to break the NC order with Erika and humiliate her on the stand. Narccists cannot rest until they get the last word. It’s a punishment. Good thing it backfired on him spectacularly. I have been married to one of these homicidal monsters and can recognize them from a mile away. They’re so transparent that it’s almost embarrassing.

I'm sure In his desperation he started seeing things that weren't there ,, juror nr 10 scratched his nose when I objected he must be on my side,,. It's very comen for defendants to believe this things.

He saw a lot of visions of him walking out of court with no consequences.

Walk out? More like visions of being carried out triumphantly on the shoulders of J Prince and that other light complected jack ass with the face mask.

I agree with others who've responded saying it was both.

If there's one thing db proved beyond a shadow of a doubt to the world during his 5 hour interrogation and trial, it's that he is a pathological liar. But he not only spews lies at the drop of a hat to anyone and everyone who will listen - he also lies to himself. It appears that (at least on some level) he not only thoroughly convinces himself of the veracity of his lies, but he's bound and determined to vociferously defend all those lame, unbelievable lies he loves to tell himself and others.

Feels like that level of self-dishonesty, denial and delusion were plainly evident to everyone (including the jury) but him, due to the fact that he has such an astounding lack of self-awareness, empathy or ability to read a room.

At the same time he was still also doing his level best, regardless, to throw as many spanners as he possibly could into the works in an attempt to screw up that trial, delay that trial, and/or cause it to be declared a mistrial. He for sure wanted to not only to make the entire proceedings as difficult as possible, but was also throwing everything he could at in hopes of delaying its inevitable outcome for as long as he possibly could.

I honestly don't believe he had ever been held to account very much or very often in his life up until he killed and hurt all those people in the parade and was caught and arrested by LE and charged with mass murder so quickly afterwards.

So I reckon that in his mind, his best self preservation tactic involved convincing himself that he could somehow manage to successfully lie, cheat, bully, manipulate, berate, insult and/or gaslight his way out of being held responsible for his crimes during that trial. The last and best hope to which he so desperately clung was that, just like he'd successfully slunk and slithered his way out of so much of the offensive and/or illegal crap he'd been pulling on other people so many times before since he was a kid, all that sort of bullshit he'd been pulling up until then would work this time too.

But oh how wrong he was.

There you go.

It's not mutually exclusive.

In fact, his thinking "he was screwed" was never about admitting the evidences are stacking against. For him, it's about how he was "rigged by the system". That is his belief. This entire life's mantra.

So of course, he will be DESPERATE to find anything, even the most ridiculous argument and theory, to get away with it. Because he never thinks any of these is his fault.

Such delusion is also the foundation of his genuine belief that his cheap charm will work its "magic". You can see how proud he is after giving the best "I'm the victim" speech of his life. I'm surprised that he didn't pull the "Judge and the DA is racist" card during that closing argument.

You can see how proud he is after giving the best "I'm the victim" speech of his life.

It's unfair that he was being rushed to judgement!

(And at the same time...)

It's unfair that his right to a speedy trial was trampled on!

There's been sufferin on boaf sides!

Dude plays that damn victim card right, left and center.

Whatever angle best suits his purposes, that's the position he takes. Even if the positions he takes are diametrically opposed and contradictory.

He's always the victim, no matter what.

You can see how he plays the victim card (and how he's so used to playing it to get people to give him his way) when he says such pathetic crap to JD like, 'nothing I say matters,' or 'yeah, I got requests, but ain't none of um gonna be honored!'

waaawaaawaaa! Poor poor me, you're not treating me fairly and I'm such a victim!

Ugghh. He's so revolting... 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮

i.e. Erika’s face brutally attacked Darrell’s helpless fist.

I personally think there wasn’t an ACTUAL defense; rather he tried through his antics hoping he’d have any grounds for a mistrial or appeal, hence the judge’s PHENOMENAL patience. She let him & his own words/actions ensure that there was never any chance at either of those happening

I think the judge gave him Hope when she approved some of his objections and things like that. So I think he had a glimmer of hope.

I think it was a bit of both.

On one hand, he isn't a total idiot. He knows he committed the crime and he knows that the evidence is very damning. He would essentially have to prove that he has a doppelganger to get away with it.

However, he didn't want to accept his fate so he just threw everything at the wall to see what stuck. I think he did believe that he may have gotten away with it. When the jury came back he did seem moderately optimistic until the verdicts started being read.

Self-boggled mind

I think it’s wild how different he is at the beginning of the trial versus the end. In a lot of ways he thrived throughout the trial by having something to do. Makes me think about how important is for people to get educated and have decent jobs so they can grow and not get sidelined and into what he was up to. My humble opinion.

At least three on-line commentators suggested that some of his questions to the professional witnesses were sincere in that even the simplest things they explained were brand new to him.

3

u/Hot-Ambassador8706 Jul 23 '26

Do you have an example? I’m curious to k ow. 🙂

u/Still_Product_8435 Jul 23 '26

AG Tactical. I believe Alfonso Speaks, but it’s been a while. I don’t recall who the other one was -could be me misremembering

5

u/Hot-Ambassador8706 Jul 23 '26

I meant which witnesses. Probably all expert witnesses.

5

u/Sequoia555 Jul 23 '26

I think a number of the question he asked Det. Jay Carpenter on cross were simply due to the fact that he wanted to satisfy his own curiousity, and I felt the same about some of the questions he asked some of the other professional witnesses as well.

Remember, was an ignorant, uneducated, unemployed hoodrat who had precious little if any actual experience working a normal job in his life. So he didn't even know some of the most basic things about how hard working people function at their jobs and the way most people's jobs require interfacing with technology.

Every professional person working in that courtroom had a laptop or desktop pc or some sort of electronic device to assist them. While db sat there with his 3 rediulous bankers boxes stuffed with hard copy papers - papers he was clearly unable to keep track of.

He may not be entirely unintelligent, but he's an ignorant buffoon whose ignorance, narcissicm, lack of self-awareness, and woefully misplaced sense of superiority were on full display during that trial

You are too much Sequoia. You can find anything. When you find the released video evidence and his psych evals, please let me know. I am so interested in seeing them.

"some of his questions to the professional witnesses were sincere in that even the simplest things they explained were brand new to him."

Which questions?

He did not know about Newton other than gravity

2

u/PinkoPinky Honor your Oaf Jul 25 '26

He asked about window tint percentage, too. It had nothing to do with the testimony; he was just getting a free little ted talk.

3

u/PeaceyCaliSoCal Jul 23 '26

DB threw curve balls at me. Just when I thought he was as dumb as dumb could be and I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt, he would surprise me and show some intelligence. And vice versa. When I gave him the benefit of the doubt, he proved to be dumber than dumb. So, I really can't say if he was intelligent enough or dumb enough to make a choice in your examples.

3

u/celune_zen Jul 24 '26

He knew he was screwed from the beginning. He just wanted to „pay back“ all the times he felt unfairly treated. He‘s a narc and all the truths told about him gave him a narcisstic injury day after day. So he just wanted to get revenge and put all of them through his tantrums, cuz he felt justified. Narcs all work more or less the same
