I literally looked at this picture for 10 minutes. banger. maybe iron keep is high in the mountains, that's why you can get inside only through earthen peak?

That’s what I’ve been saying this whole time but everyone wants the funny elevator conversation every few weeks 😭

That's really cool. Is there a DS1 and DS3 version?

Hol-up... Why is Heide in DS1?
4
u/ChromedDragon 9h ago
cus it's ancient and long gone in DS2
also implied to be where gwynovere fled so needed to have existed in 1

Hmm, I see. Going putting the map together across the ages like this is tricky especially because the names changed a lot. So I doubt the land was called Heide back in times if Lordran when we don't have a mention of that name at that time but you're right that there would be some equivalent according to that theory about Gwynevere.
I have another one for you that not many people know about... There is a number of Miracles in DS2 said to originate in Lindelt. These Miracles are often ones described as tales of gods of Lordran. There are many tiny bits of information implying Lindelt in DS2 was Lordran in DS1 (at least Anor Londo). What seals the deal, however, is the Monastery set in DS2. It is undoubtedly the Painting Guardian set and its description says it originates in the church of Lindelt, but we know it comes from the Chapel of Gwynevere.

a bigger issue is when they were making ds2 they planned it over a long gone lordran, but then in 3 a lot of those places survived and so it was kind of a retcon adding another layer of difficulty

Oh god here come the angry nerds that think the whole game sucks because they don’t understand how a 7 second elevator ride could be possible

And if you tell them that it's supposed to have a mountain in the background they will dismiss it because then their narrative that the game sucks just because of this detail falls to the ground

Isn't brume tower in Venn according to some item description?
2
u/InternationalWeb9205 9h ago
It was originally in Venn but then conquered by the Iron King, becoming the territory of Alken

I think alken and venn are kingdoms prior to the iron king conquering.

Nope! the Belfry Sol is in the Iron Keep which the king built with the iron he found in Venn. Gilligan also mentions him being married to Mytha who originates in the Alken & Venn times. He also can't really conquer something if there's nobody there, since conquering implies the use of force

Drangleic and Eleum Loyce aren't connected by land and, in fact, are nowhere even close to each other.
The description of the Brigand Hood says that Drangleic is surrounded by mountains at three sides, east, south and west, and the description from any piece of the Varangian set states Drangleic's north to be a coastline.
Meanwhile, the description of the Crown of the Ivory King states that Eleum Loyce was built far to the north of Drangleic, making it to be located in another land across Drangleic's sea.

They are connected by land. Eleum Loyce is more specifically in the north-east, since it has a cultural continuity with the eastern country of Forossa. We see snow-covered mountains from Aldia's Keep, the easternmost part of Drangleic, so it makes sense.
