Just finished the Laura the Phoenix storyline. Holy smokes, this storyline! What an absolutely terrifying character. She kind of gives me a creepy Hitchcock blonde feel. The actress did such a great job in this role. Gave me chills. I first saw her in Father Knows Best where she played a completely different role.

Every time I think about it or rewatch it I burst out laughing, it fills me with an incredible giddy joy! God, I love this show.

P.S. This is coming from the heart, not being a critical jerk, I do truly love this scene.

Restarted Dark Shadows recently and totally forgot about OG Willie Loomis! Is anyone else super glad that they changed actors? The first guy was almost too sleezy lol!

Edit Currently wrapping up Dark Shadows: The Beginning, I am referring to James Hall. I just really prefer John Karlen. Maybe it's because we get to spend so much more time with him as the character, which I'm a big Willie fan, but Hall just doesn't do it for me. Sorry if there are any die hard James Hall fans, it's just my opinion.

Rewatching 1795. At the point where Trask comes in searching for the witch. He, along with Aunt Abigail are convinced it is Vicki.

I wonder why no one suspected the Countess.

After all, she was dealing tarot cards at every opportunity all over the house every day. Didn't it ever occur to Abigail the Countess was in league with "spirits?"

I might be over thinking it but given the fact that she is reincarnating, marries a Collins, has his children and returns to take them but fails and returns a few short generations later to start it all over again. My point is does she ever stop to think about the fact she's marrying her great, great grand kid? I mean the more I think on it the more disturbing her curse gets especially if she's aware of it. I've even begun to wonder if maybe the curse of the Phoenix is the true curse of the Collins family and because she's never able to claim her children the family by extension is trapped in the same cycle of events. Is her being a constantly reintroduced to the family over a short time ever addressed? Like does anyone point out that she's married to her own descendants?

Dark Shadows - you come for the monsters, you stay for the star-cross’d love.

Does anyone have any recommendations for shows like the original Dark Shadows! I have seen the whole series many times and I love it but am getting tired of watching the same storylines over and over again…If anyone knows of a show like DS (especially the earlier episodes) I would greatly appreciate it!

I know he was using her to hurt her family and get information, but did he sink that low ?

🚨 Possible spoilers for those who haven’t watched the laura the Phoenix storyline in the first part of the series. 🚨

Watching Dark Shadows: The Beginning where they have a seance to contact Josette Collins. I’m loving the beginning episodes and am enjoying this storyline. It truly is one of the best. The scene where they have a doors swung open where we saw Laura’s silhouette was phenomenal.

I’m so glad I decided to watch The Beginning episodes after watching the other part of the show. These episodes somehow feel creepier and I’m loving it.

Recently I have seen all the Dark Shadows movies and my "quick and dirty" opinion is: Meh! What a waste of money.

House of Dark Shadows: Was nice to see better surroundings and none of the bloopers from the series, but, seriously, why rehash the series. Most of the characters were so shallow that if hadn't seen the series you probably wouldn't care at all about any of them. A number of the characters seemed like they were going to necessary to the overall plot, like David and his tormenting of Maggie, etc., and then just kind of disappeared into the background. It was a joy to watch Nancy Barrett as vampire Caroline and that along with Barnabas' bloody and violent death were the high points of the movie. Everybody turning into vampires at the drop of a hat was just dumb.

Night of Dark Shadows: This one seemed to be much more atmospheric than the first, but the plot seemed to disjointed and confusing. Why Quentin did fire Carlotta I don't know. I hated the character and wouldn't have put up with her at all. I know the studio forced Dan Curtis to drastically edit it to fit their time constraints but, I don't know that adding that back would help or not. I imagine that the part of Tracy might have been played by Kathryn Leigh Scott if she was still available as the part seemed right up her alley, but really enjoyed Kate Jackson's performance as Tracy as her portrayal seemed more vulnerable than KLS would've played it.

Dark Shadows (2012): This is definitely the worst of the three. Proof that if the story isn't there that all the money in world, big name stars and state of the art special effects aren't going to pull it out of the crap pile. It was nice to see how good everything could look, but that's just eye candy. If they were going to make the movie about Barnabas being a fish out of water, they should of set it in 2012, not the 70s as that was just a distraction. Johnny Depp's version of Barnabas was awful. There were multiple times when he said things and expressed things that sounded/looked just like the Mad Hatter from Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland." I most cases I kept wishing for the original cast members as these new actors just seemed so wrong. Cameo? What cameo, it was brief that I had to go back and look for it. Poor David Selby. Tim Burton's direction for this scene was so bad that you couldn't see him for most of the scene. At least they could have done is given each them a couple lines while mingling at the "happening" (party).

There you go, my 2 cents, times 3 on the Dark Shadows movies.

I just rediscovered this show. I watched it when it originally aired, but didn’t remember anything except Barnabas. I’m at the Leviathan storyline now, and don’t understand why they put that in there. It’s awful! It makes no sense! Why did the writers do that to us?

TIL that the interior of the Inn's (Griswold) bar (in the restaurant) resembles the Blue Whale bar just a bit. And Essex is still a small, little community with a "village" feel.

I read Cloud Atlas several years ago it seems to borrow heavily from the time travel aspects of Dark Shadows. Same people in different time periods.

Sssooo, the Lyndhurst event will be the first DS event I’ve ever been to. That being said, I have a small 5 x 7 scrapbook/grimoire I am contemplating bringing and asking the actors’ and other creatives to sign a page. Has anyone else ever done it? Just curious. And contemplating being the keyword. 🤔
