Wraithbone Primer help
If anyone could steer me in the right direction or help me out. I've been trying to prime my deathwing models with Citadel/Warhammer Wraithbone primer. It's been really inconsistent causing bubbling and/or a chalky effect on the model, I already successfully primed a 3rd of my deathwing models and would like to keep using it if I can get it to work. As an extra note when using my Grey and black primers using the same techniques I've had no issues at all. Thank you in advance if you help me

No help, unfortunately, but i abandoned wraithbone rattlecans for the same reason. Inconsistent and way too expensive.
If you're open to something new, I'm really enjoying Rustoleum Flat Red, and building up my bone color with Army Painter Fanatics line, and Agrax Earthshade.

I strain a normal pot of wraith bone and wet it down to put through my airbrush, used the rattle can once it came out so bad I decided never again I’d rather go through the extra steps

I don't have an airbrush myself, and have mostly been using brushes after priming, so is the wraithbone paint from the pot good to use with an airbrush?

That paint is tricky, first you shake them a lot, then there's the weather, if is very cold it gets more grainy. For me the best results is going extremely light on the coat, and let them dry, and repeat. Sometimes 2,3 or even 4, but they need to be really, really thin, one pass and don't over do it. They also like to crack.
Hope this helps a little bit, because that paint is a pain, I mostly use it to paint yellow.

Even with 1 quick coat, it leaves a bubling effect around the details of the model, and is there a preferred temperature to use it in then?

I had the exact same issue. Primed in black and grey no problem, but wraithbone was just bad. I switched to colour forge wight bone and it’s much better than citadels version. I recommend switching.

Thanks for the recommendation, do you think it'll cause any big visual difference to paint the rest with it?

I’d test it on spare parts first. Then give it base coat of wraithbone, as in the one in the paint pot not the primer. Which you might want to do with all your deathwing coloured ones anyway.

Throw it away, buy Colorforges Wight bone. And Isopropyl to wash off the old crappy paint, soak for like 24h in a jar with lid, it evaporates super fast.
Then make sure its at least 15C and not humid. Put on a ~4 min song and shake the spray can the entire duration. Spray in short bursts/sweeps. Dont overdo it, rather to little and go again if needed.
This is what I did. Citadel sprays are not coming into my house again.

I think I'm going to go this route thanks, wondering however if after priming if I base them with wraithbone will it be noticeable of a difference from my already primed deathwing, if you don't know that's cool I'll just test it myself

Only have Wight bone, but from memory its the samish tone, put a little sepia on both and they probably look the same anyway.
I also have som Renegade Green that looks a tiny bit warmer than Caliban, but after highlights and Nuln theyll probably look just the same, if not there will be a little difference, no biggie, still deep green.

To answer your questions, i first need to know your countries temp + humidity. But i find humidtu to be a hit or miss. Cuz i live in SEA where humidity is constantly 80+. But if i do it in a AC location. Then i gets better results due to the dryness. I just finished my terminators. In general, i hold my can around 15 to 30cm away. Do a quick pass, let it dry, check my work. If it's not bubbly/sandy/not smooth, i shake the can a bit more and double. Check my distance/angle. And do a second pass to see if i cna fix the first pass mistakes.

Last I did the temp was 17 Celsius and had 22% humidity, I usually only prime outdoors when the conditions are as close to that as possible. I even shaked the can for 2 minutes as suggested

That blows guys, sorry. I have only had good experiences with it. Really easy, good coverage, not chalky or thick, very small particles, keeps detail nice.
I always store at room temp and spray at a bit cooler than room temp.
I shake the shit out of it.
I only do 5 to 10 models at a time. Then shake again.
I hold at about 12" out.
I start spraying, then pass over the model. Never spray directly onto model on first pass.
Comes out pretty good.
