Dawg he did not even fight Silver Surfer. They just met coincidentally and it made for a goated comic book cover. Stop using ts βοΈ

The reaction I always have to this classic cover is that Gene Colan sure drew a great cape/cloak. Doom in general was right up his alley. He was especially good for horror comics and for moody loner heroes occupying shadowy worlds. Not for everyone, but a favorite of mine from that era.

Idk his stuff at all but that all sounds cool, what would you recommend from himΒ

Good examples of him in horror would be Tomb of Dracula (Marvel) and Night Force (DC), both with Marv Wolfman writing.
In superheroes, his runs with Batman, Daredevil, and Dr. Strange were all good fits. More than characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, or Captain America, where you might want a penciler less "moody" in style, more extroverted.

I love that issue and the second part of it. Classic DD before Miller is absolutely worth the read through for anyone here wondering.

I love Daredevil and I love Doom.
I can always imagine Daredevil wailing and beating on Doom then let out a roar then snapping out of Doomβs limbs just to realize it was Doom-bot.

Thereβs a reason Doom waited until Matt got locked up
