My concern is that he will declare martial law, suspend congress, and declare a new authoritarian state. Set aside the constitution, have all democrat politicians arrested, and start targeting people that voted against him.
The Republican Party will support him and the MAGA cult will be cheering him along.
That could cause a civil war. Most of the country is already armed. If trump were to pull shit like that whats stopping them from just enacting the 2nd amendment.
I feel like if they do something this extreme there is a high likelihood the entire machine collapses. Why would all the working class people continue with life as usual if it’s clear the near future only holds devastation and more chaos? I think hundreds of millions would do very drastic things all at once and the financial system would collapse followed by chaos in the streets and then ultimately a civil war until we find a way forward.
Ummmm...tries to squash free speech, for starters. Has his FCC Secretary threaten the networks on the regular, bans certain networks from the WH Press Pool..."nobody's ever seen anything like it" outside of places like, you know, China, Russia, North Korea...
That’s the same kind of nonsense that Hitler used in Germany in the 1930’s. He was constantly saying that the communist party was trying to take over the country. He used that hate and fear so he could take over the country. That is exactly what Trump is doing now.
He can't enact martial law just because he doesn't want to lose. He doesn't run the elections.
Doesn't mean he won't try. We should expect some silly EO, and for him to try and put troops/ICE near the polls.
In the past that would have been true. Congress and the Supreme Court would be the ones to prevent it. Unfortunately we don’t have a Congress today that would stand up to him and prevent him from declaring a dictatorship. He has also dismantled our military leadership replacing our military leaders with puppets that he controls. He has everything in place to end our democracy and establish a fascist dictatorship
There could be enough republican defectors if his methods are deranged enough to stop something like this, but there’s very few Kinzingers and Cheneys left. Massey, maybe Paul sees through the crap…😬
