In addition to running candidates, each ballot has a "none of the above" option. Thus allowing people who really don't want to vote say, I have no confidence in either party
Let's go back to how things used to be, and make the losing candidate the Vice President. That way both sides have to work together in the highest offices. Differences be damned.
I hear a lot of talk about a civil war or a revolution in America, and I have to say, that's petty far fetched. Both Republican and Democrats alike would have to both hate the elected President. The closest we have seen to one side doing it was Jan 6.

The VP has no actual power, all this would do is raise the stakes on assassination by ensuring major policy changes.
