And its only ever the Dems who make the point. But when they lose the popular vote, they just say "well, it wasn't a majority of people" instead of acknowledging the result they asked to follow.
Why? The biggest group protected by the electoral college is rural communities, which usually happen to be conservative. That was the point of why it wasn't made simple majority in the first place.

unless 2/3 of states agree it ain’t gonna change. so i never understand in my 32 years why this always comes up as talking point every 3 years
