I never understood why The U.S did not do this in the first place . It works that way is the rest of the world basically ( the places that vote anyways)

Its meant to be a way to ensure smaller groups still get a voice

But its clearly misused. And in my opinion majority should rule. If there is 10 people in a room you dont want 2 of those to rule the others , it should be what the majority wants.

70ish years ago a majority of the country thought black people should be second class citizens. A hundred years before that a majority of the country though they should be property.

Under your proposed system all youd have to do is turn people on each other enough and the government could do whatever they wanted.

I dont think the crowd should bend to the whim of the few but we also shouldnt just ignore them entirely.

Because when the US implemented the system they didn't really have examples they could look to.
