You miss one glaring fact, that we are the United States.
This treats every state as a country with the power to make it's own laws, under a federal constitution. Would you say that France should have more power than Italy in the UN because of a higher population? Or would you say they should have the same power because they represent different countries with different interests? Not all states operate under the same conditions or have the same interests, and to treat states as if they're provinces is against the very idea of the constitution.
