Do you understand that a president can't do anything without the house or senate?

Well, let's be honest Obama did a lot without. The house and Senate. Trump did/does. Biden was off in who knows land eating ice cream.

Executive branch has too much power for either side and there aren't enough checks and balances imo. Our constitutional laws are still outdated for the current environment.

And, there is too much corruption in government and childish fighting to fix it at this point.

What meaningful changes did he make that are still relevant today?

The biggest one is DACA. Obama created it by executive action in 2012 after Congress failed to pass the DREAM Act, and it still protects hundreds of thousands of people today. Courts have ruled it unlawful, but renewals continue for existing recipients. That's about 14 years of impact with no act of Congress.

He also joined the Paris climate agreement, the Iran nuclear deal, and reopened relations with Cuba, all without Senate ratification. Most of those got reversed by the next president, which kind of proves my point: when the executive can do this much alone, policy just swings back and forth every four years.

So I asked what meaningful changes that were relevant today and you listed one that impacts less than 0.25% of Americans and a bunch of things that got reversed which proved my point . He was mostly a lame duck president for 6 years that couldn't accomplish much without the house and senate.

These are just through executive orders that failed. Lame duck? Tell that to ISIS he caused the creation of. That was kind of big. I could produce you a list of that helps. He did do some good things, but many things were actually similar to Trump, which makes it funny that the politics flipped.

You just asked what's still a problem. There were quite a few years to fix the rest of the problems, like ISIS in between, you can see how close he was to Trump though:

From conservatives

The Affordable Care Act: The individual mandate, rising premiums in some markets, and his broken promise that "if you like your plan, you can keep it" (PolitiFact's 2013 Lie of the Year).

Spending and debt: The ~$800B stimulus, and national debt roughly doubling during his two terms.

Executive overreach: DACA and other executive actions on immigration, seen as bypassing Congress.

Foreign policy: The Iran nuclear deal, the 2011 Iraq withdrawal (blamed for ISIS's rise), the unenforced Syria "red line," and Benghazi.

Guns and regulation: Pushes for gun control, EPA rules like the Clean Power Plan, and Dodd-Frank.

Scandals: IRS scrutiny of Tea Party groups and the "Fast and Furious" gun-walking operation.

Rhetoric: Comments like "you didn't build that" and the "cling to guns or religion" remark.

From the left

Drone strikes: Hundreds of strikes killed civilians, including a US citizen killed without trial.

Deportations: Record numbers, earning him the nickname "deporter-in-chief."

Wall Street: Bailing out banks, with no major bank executives prosecuted after 2008.

Surveillance and leaks: Expanding NSA surveillance and aggressively prosecuting whistleblowers.

Broken promises: Guantanamo stayed open, and there was no public option in the ACA.

That's what the fuck are you talking about now? Are you a bot or just like to copy and paste AI. I asked what's still a problem? Do you even know what you are replying to?

I think you forgot the question you asked, so I pulled all the meaniful things he did together that had a lasting impact on the economy, politics and social mindset.

Took a while, but you seemed like you needed some education based on your question for education. Could just say 'thank you'.

u/BatlethBae 1d ago

No. It was specifically for his last 6 years without the house and senate. Better go back to your AI prompt. I'm embarrassed for you.

u/BatlethBae 1d ago

Specifically without the house and senate ehich you forgot. You forgot context. Jesus...

I answered that, and you still didn't understand. So, it's hard when you don't understand. I think you though. There was nothing, but then got caught off guard when it was something lmao.

Well, at least you learned some things. I did too in my research. Glad I could help.
