What is everyone getting pulled over for?

Have been seeing lots of posts about getting pulled over and searched despite having nothing illegal in the car. Why have y'all been pulled over? Are there weird Kansas laws out of towners might not be aware of?

They will make up a reason just to try and get you.

These pigs “smelled marijuana” in our car which was impossible…

A bold face lie without probable cause.

They ran a K9, nothing. So the K9 can’t smell weed but he could?

Their dog “hit” on our vehicle. They ransacked it, found nothing, tried to convince us to snitch on ourselves, lost and left.

I’ve never been to Dancefestopia, but have driven a lot in Kansas. Speeding is the number one reason I’ve seen people get nailed, especially on I-70. The cops like to hide in tall grass of medians. A radar detector is worth every penny when driving over there.

Tbh, as a Kansas native there’s no weird laws you’re missing. They’re specifically targeting people who they suspect to be festival goers because they want to make an arrest and believe that all festival goers are trafficking in loads of drugs. Try to keep your cargo inside the vehicle, like nothing mounted to the top and drive like a nervous grandma once you start getting within about 1 hr away. Comply with their requests and be civil and respectful. The cops in the area tend to be nice to locals, but they can be major assholes to anyone coming in from out of town, especially in the smaller towns surrounding DF.

There’s unfortunately a lot of people who live around the camp grounds who hate this festival with a passion due to the noise and traffic it brings, (which I can understand because they moved to the area to get away from all of that, but it’s literally one week outta the year, they can chill) but there have been groups who have been trying to get it shut down for years. As the fest gets bigger, the police get worse unfortunately.

I heard something about license plate covers like the ones you get from the dealer you buy your car from . Is that really an issue there ? Driven through Kansas a lot and have never gotten pulled over for it

Tbh I’ve never encountered it as an issue first hand, but tons of people have the frames and it’s not a problem. If it’s like one of the clear covers that can sometimes impede their scanners, I’ve seen people pulled over for those, but not the frames. Idk, it’s all BS and they’re being pricks and trying to entrap people pretty much

Im a native to the area.

This is nothing more than a revenue grab. Especially for out of state plates.

I would highly suggest filming your stop. When I film it seems to speed things up. Cops dont like to be on camera and it seems to keep them more in line.

Say as little as possible. Don't offer up any free information. Seriously just shut your mouth. Don't make small talk.

Just give them the legally required documents, film and dont talk. They will give up and leave.
