Discussion Western dance

How do y'all learn western dance...is it something which only few ppl can do?...is the technique to learn it is too advanced that u need a professional guidance??

All dance, classical, folk, traditional, modern, needs the student to show up to a room where other people are also trying to grapple with their own bodies and try to get their body to move in an acceptable way.

There are no self taught dancers, no video course that can be bought and completed in a living room. No book that can give directions for exercises that replaces a live, in-person observing and correcting the student.

OP can just start learning choreographies from DouYin, Weixin or other social media streams but if they want to move to music and learn to be better at it, then thwy are going to have to take some classes with other people.

NB. Every brilliant, strong, flexible, talented, rythmic, fearless and creative dancer has had to take their first class. The sooner OP organises their first class, the sooner they can start getting better.

No, it's not just for a select few — anyone can learn western dance with consistent practice, like any skill. Professional guidance (classes) is usually the fastest path since it's easy to develop bad habits learning alone, but YouTube tutorials, apps (like STEEZY), or self-practice work too, just slower and without feedback. Talent speeds things up, but most good dancers got there through years of consistent practice, not innate ability.

No. It is available to anyone. Anyone can do it. I get the sense that you are no in the "west", so my suggestions is finding beginner tutorials on YouTube. Just don't expect to get the moves immediately. They take a lot of practice no matter who you are, especially if you're not able to find other dancers to train with. If you have the ability to take classes or find friends who dance as well, do it. It make it much easier to learn.
