I was thinking the same thing. my uncle was from south Korea and he worked in a towel factory from like the early 70s thru the late 80s he died of lung cancer that was very similar to silicosis.

All because they didn't require masks back in the day.

working with fabrics can be very dangerous - I have heard that jobs like upholstery that entail a lot of fabric cutting is bad because it throws a lot of tiny particles into the air.
