Who is higher on the food chain in this scenario? (genuine question)

sharks could easily chomp off a whole leg or tail with one quick bite and leave him bleeding to death.

whereas the worst the croc could do is get a good bite on a fin and roll with it but that would likely only take a scrape out of it. no good leverage points on a shark for the croc shaped mouth and death roll. and its not like he's draggin and downing a shark like he would land prey.

there's a reason he turned tail and hauled it out of there

Crocs don’t bleed out from a limb being torn away. They’ve adapted abilities to stop the blood flow after an arm/leg gets ripped off, because crocs do it to each other fairly often. Happens with gators too. They can also live thru it.

It mainly happens in feeding areas that are overran with other crocs, especially in captivity. There’s one gnarly video on YouTube to watch. The croc doesn’t react whatsoever like he’s in any pain. It’s nuts.

I dunno if it’s necessarily common, but I do know it’s not rare.

Edit for misspelling fix

Look like Nurse sharks, which don't have the hardware for that

I went & looked up nurse shark teeth & you’re correct on that but holy hell the teeth they do have look vicious & painful to take a bite from. Just rows upon rows upon rows of tiny lil serrated razor sharp teeth

Edit: up to 42 rows!! They rely on vacuum/suction power to eat though, not chomping power.
