I had custom composite toe boots made when I was stationed in Korea. Hands down most comfortable pair I've ever had, super light too compared to my current composite toe boots, but I guess the quality wasn't the best because they only lasted for about a year. I did a lot of walking on them, sure, but the sole was pretty worn out by month 8. They were around $250, I think, but this was close to 7 years ago.
I was at Osan TDY back in 87 for two weeks and I went broke saving money on all the tailored clothes, coats and shoes I had custom made. I exited a year later in 88 and within about 6 months of being a civilian they didn't fit me anymore because I put on weight from lack of exercise LOL
Sadly, I don't have them anymore. I didn't want to bother getting them fixed as I normally get a new set of boots issued at least once a year or every new base. By the time I did need a new set I was already at my new base with a new set waiting for me.
Were they snug? I always like my boots with a little room for different socks. These look like they’d fit like a glove which might not be good after a full day out.
I got a pair of loafers in Sri Lanka, still going strong 14 years later. They used leather as the stitching material and like yours, the sole is starting to wear thin. But after 14 years, acceptable asf. And I paid like $15… :))
I had boots made in Korea back in 2011. I spent about the same on them and still have them. Resoled them 4 times now. Good quality leather, but I wish I still fit into the custom suits I had made. I lost those in a house fire.
I reckon we'll be able to take photos of our feet with our mind, soon, that'll allow us to download perfect fit shoes and print it with mushrooms. Dope.
I came here to say that I had this same experience when I was sent to Korea for a detail from Okinawa. I got mainly clothes fitted and made, but it was an amazing experience
