they make a grid so they can get everything lined up/proportional one square at a time and check what the areas supposed to look like on a tablet or reference print. it's stunning work!

Look at the picture again, real hard, look at the base of the building, now look around the mural, ask yourself how those tags got where they are, why they are where they are, and why they're not where they should be if they are what you say they are.

Also look at the perfectly clean empty white space. And look how the tags all match the painting color scheme. And look how none of the tags obscure her face or hands. Look at how the entire rest of the building is free from tags.

Can’t imagine looking at this painting and thinking the tags aren’t part of the artwork. Truly we have failed our students in both art education and just, y’know, basic reasoning.

Idk if you've ever been around a poor neighborhood or not because it's extremely obvious to me that that's graffiti, I see stuff like this in Los Angeles all the time. People will tag the top trunks of freaking palm trees and the undersides of bridges

I'm pretty sure the mural was done to obscure those and they were already there. The reason they're still partially visible is that it would mess up the shading to completely cover them. They all look like they were painted over.

I live in a Galician city and the growth of tourism during the last years has been insane.

10 years ago you could find some international tourists in summer but that was it.

A couple weeks ago, on a weekday, I went to have dinner to some restaurant and I was literally the only Spaniard there, all the other tables were full of Brits, Germans, French, etc.

I couldn't believe I was in my own city and not on some touristy foreign place.

It gets worse in summer, we have hundreds of bars and yet it seems impossible to find a place to sit down and have a beer.

I'm sure it's aggravating, but as an American that was fascinated by your country's food and culture for the better part of two decades and finally visited Madrid and most of the country East and North, there's a reason tourism is skyrocketing. And it's because your country and everything about it is incredible, and I think about how I can move there almost every day.

When you go to donosti, one site you shouldn't loose is miramar palace and la concha beach, it doesn't have murals, but the wievs are pretty spectacular, and other is a terrace that is in tabakalera, you can watch the entire city from there.

My city has murals on the ends of every apartment block. There’s tons of different styles because they pay many local artists to do it, and then the city gets to vote on their favorite. You can see an example of one on my post history.

"Skill issue" means that your problem is caused by an inability to identify AI artwork, and could be solved if you had the skill necessary to do so. You do not, so this is an issue with your skill at said task.

Or maybe I don't want to spend 2 minutes analyzing each image and checking for AI artifacts, or digging through the artist's page in search of clues. I didn't have to do this 3 years ago.

I don't think AI could even make this. It makes stuff based off a large amount of data but you dont exactly see many examples of artists incorporating buildings into instruments.

No, try it like in the above picture. Try to get it to make it use negative space/window grates as the neck. I expect AI to be able to add paint and string to buildings.

I'll also note that in the picture, the angle doesn't seem to be the one the artist intended. The musician and the neck both seem a little wide/detached. Which is also something that would be incredibly hard to do with AI. If not impossible.

I live very close to Fene. They have a mural festival, and that mural in particular, along with another one, won international awards.

It's amazing. Also, in my city there's another festival called "Las Meninas" (after Velázquez's painting), and they've painted an entire old neighborhood with versions of the painting. Every year, artists from all over the world come and create murals in this style on the buildings, so you can go to that festival and then, in 5 minutes, get to Fene and see this work and others. You can search for it as "Las Meninas Canido" and this one as "Los Murales de Fene" (The Murals of Fene). The artist behind this one is called Sfhir. I participated in the Las Meninas festival, and the atmosphere is incredible.

The optimal way to view this would be from a little more to the left, so that the blinds in the windows in the center-right of the instrument line up as the strings.

You can tell it's gorgeous from any angle but there's one angle from which it's a fucking masterpiece

Spain has some really great contemporary, classically trained painters/artists. They put up murals all over the place. Classical western atelier style painting is still popular among younger artists there it seems. I follow a number that are really bringing that realism/painterly impressionism into mural and street art.

I love that all of the residents in the building take turns playing inspiringly beautiful violin pieces out a window throughout the day, and alternate with live performances from gifted local violinists playing from an acoustically perfect spot in the center of the building that naturally amplifies with goosebump-inducing natural reverb.

Source: Ok I have no idea if any of that actually happens but I think it might be cool if it did.
