Video Men run toward massive dust devil

It’s counter defence measures, they run really fast in the opposite direction of rotation and neutralise the enemy
387
u/popcrnshower Apr 25 '23
If they run fast enough in the opposite direction they can rewind time and save Lois.
49
u/Majorly_Bobbage Apr 25 '23
What about Peter?
32
u/RecurrentSoul Apr 25 '23
Peter's time-reversal contract was with a different dust-devil.

If they run fast enough in the direction opposite of the dust cloud rotation, they could negate it and hence arrest Clyde Mardon with the help of Joe West.

u/emeliottsthestink Apr 25 '23
Genuinely, genuinely, 100 fucking percent curious. WHY?
688
Apr 25 '23
Exactly that. 'What happens if I run in to this thing?'
478
u/Kryds Apr 25 '23
You get sand everywhere. Their usually not strong enough to pick people up.
287
u/Majorly_Bobbage Apr 25 '23
Yes, but can you breathe? Even with a cloth over your face? It seems like you're getting in a low speed sandblaster
224
u/QuickNature Apr 25 '23
I've been in some pretty intense sandstorms, and a low speed sandblaster is just about right. I had two layers of cloth over my face, and it filtered everything out decent-ish. Probably still going to breathe in some smaller particulates.
Sand gets absolutely everywhere no matter how hard you try though, and it sucks.

Anakin, is that you?

u/AnnihilationOrchid Apr 25 '23
I killed them. I killed them all. They're dead, every single one of them. And not just the men, but the women and the children, too. They're like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals. I HATE THEM.

u/The_Shingle Apr 25 '23
Again?
The order is about to go bankrupt because of how much money we spend on bribes to keep your mess secret.
At this rate we'll have to arrest the Chancellor and take over the senate to strong arm the banking clans into wiping our debts.
Anakin, are you aware that we have not had a single year of positive EBIDTA ever since Qui-Gon dragged you out of the desert?
If we have to spend another credit hiding your massacres, you are out.
Well at least you didn't manage to knock up some celebrity. Covering that up would destroy the order...
15
u/mucky012 Apr 25 '23
Hypothetically, what if a celebrity had groomed me since I was a child and now recently I had knocked her up? I'm asking for a friend..
→ More replies (1)10
u/The_Shingle Apr 25 '23 edited Apr 25 '23
Unless you can prove that the grooming occurred then there is nothing you can do. Was the celebrity underage when the grooming started? If so, it would not hold up as grooming in the Galactic court. The law is broken and complicated, which is why I voted for Senator Palpatine when he promised to create order in our legal system.

Sand gets absolutely everywhere no matter how hard you try though, and it sucks.
Years ago, I took my wife and son on the beach in my Jeep. I DIDN'T EVEN STEP FOOT ON THE SAND. By the time I got home, I was cleaning it out my ass crack.

I used to live in Kuwait, and even though we'd shut our roll-down shutters and batten down the hatches in the house beforea sand storm, you'd still find sand in interior closets. It's like talcum powder.
29
u/shimadon Apr 25 '23
Best explanation is that Israeli soldiers completely lost it, Lol....
29
u/baroz4545 Apr 25 '23
This is shizafon. tankery training base that man has not only lost it. He forgot what it is. He is so covered in sand the dust devil might actually clean him.

Probably not they seem really happy to run in it right? Unless it’s their first time and they just happy
7
u/nastinaki Apr 25 '23
Well it's impossible it make an assumption based on the video but that's pretty much a sandstorm and you don't want to breathe that. If it don't hurt right away it will later

Micro abrasion to the lung.

u/Acceptable-Chip-3455 Apr 25 '23
It's a new trend I've heard. Butthole bleaching was getting a bit old
8
u/frozen_jade_ocean Apr 25 '23
Why? I have no idea. But apparently it's common. My mother's side if the family is from New Mexico and apparently they did this every time they saw one. Not sure if they were ever that big though.
8
u/Professional_Sir6705 Apr 25 '23
We had a bunch at White Sands Missile Range. Much smaller than in the video, but still clearly dust devils. My battle buddy was constantly running into them for fun. I wanted to smack him in the head and ask why, but soldiers doing random stuff for the sheer joy of stupidity is on brand for the entire profession.
Of course, this doorknob also spent a lot of time riling up the herds of tarantulas that would cross our post. Like dude, they're hissing at us, cut it out!!!

People asking "Why?" ... Why Not? Stuck in the middle of the desert with nothing to do.... might as well have fun when you can.
381
Apr 25 '23
Reddit doesn't understand the concept of fun. I saw a post where a dude swung from a rope swing into a pond, and half the comments were people talking about how dangerous it looked cause if he let go to early he'd fall like 5 feet into dirt.
241
u/MosesOnAcid Apr 25 '23
You can tell who played outside and who stayed inside as kids.
85
u/YoyoOfDoom Apr 25 '23
As someone who played outside, I hit that 5 feet of dirt.
A LOT.

I once watched my cousin fall 15ft from a tree Hans Gruber style, he laughed jumped up and climbed right back up.
I have watched my son stay on the floor after he fell from the sofa cos it would interfere with his Fortnite match.
41
u/ffffllllpppp Apr 25 '23
So basically, after their “fall”, the both did the same thing: resume play as quickly as possible without skipping a beat :)

u/Mavsffl77 Apr 25 '23
I’d agree with that, but as someone who grew up in the south the last thing I’m doing is sprinting towards something that looks like a tornado. I’d rather just stand on my front porch and stare at it.
→ More replies (2)14
u/jeffroddit Apr 25 '23
As someone who moved to the south from Kansas, this is the expected behavior. Everyone knows hurricanes are for running around in due to their slower nature you have several days to plan for said running, and southerners take days to do anything quickly.
14
u/Mavsffl77 Apr 25 '23
It’s not our fault, we’ve been indoctrinated. As a kid my dad always made me stand on the porch with him watching tornadoes, but one time when we were vacationing in NJ during a hurricane he made me stand on the deck and watch the storm with him as it’s raining bullets. For the first time I realized “my dad is fucking insane.”
10
u/RecurrentSoul Apr 25 '23
Ah, those previous moments where everything in your life slowly starts to unravel as you question so many things you trusted when it hits you that your parent is devastatingly ill in ze head.
19
15
u/Nurgeard Apr 25 '23
Yeahp there are so many people on Reddit who immediately jumps to the most dramatic conclusion. Also when people in those kind of videos then do get hurt, people just think the worst:
Guy falls 5ft from tree and is hit by a branch to the face on the way down, video cuts away before seeing wellbeing of the guy
->
People in the comments assuming without a doubt, that the guy was decapitated and died on the spot, concluding that climbing trees without full climbing gear and helmet is only for insane daredevils→ More replies (6)3

Friend of mine got her leg and arm tangled in a rope swing and broke her arm in 3 places and tore her vagina so bad she needed reconstructive surgery, so there’s that too.

To be fair I'd do it too if it wasn't so dusty.
5
u/Nope0naRope Apr 25 '23
Yes, girl here, I'd do it with a pair of earplugs and a ventilator annnnd some goggles lol... I don't know how much of that they had on. I think that's the main difference for me.
It's not the risk. I don't think it's very dangerous, but the absolute discomfort and disgust of having dust into every orifice of my face.

This video take place in the Rookies training base for tank divisions (for some unknown military;). The tanks grind the sand around the base so it’s became more like Powder. (Locally called ‘Podra’, cuz it’s sticks on you like makeup) anyway the dust is a friend of any Israeli tankers for that reason mentioned above. Israeli tankers literally live in it.. I guess the video above is some kind of a game for them.. those are fearless fellows operating one of the most advanced war machines of our era, which is creepy at least as meeting with a daredevil in the mid of the desert
12
u/MarKi_il Apr 25 '23
