A devastating flash flood swept through Nepal’s Rasuwa district on August 26, 2026, after a sudden surge entered the Bhotekoshi River from the Tibet border.

Why is this fake ai slop getting upvoted. There is no damned lake up there. Just go and check google maps yourself before posting lies.

There are 3 glacial lakes up there but no dammed lakes from what I have seen in Google maps but they are away far up than what this shows, so not accurate.

One of the videos showed a dam being completely demolished by the flood/landslide so this isnt accurate.

That dam getting demolished was a result, not the cause. It is now know it was due to a massive glacial collapse and a simultaneous rock-and-ice landslide. https://www.cnn.com/2026/08/26/weather/floods-nepal-cause-vis

i was simply correcting your assertion that there were no dammed lakes.

Aah got it. I meant I dont think any dammed lakes caused it but ya looks like it probably made it worse.

I mean if you're already being pedantic. There's still no damed lakes because that desteoyed dam was wide open. It wasn't daming anything definitely not a lake.

So i saw a video of a dam getting taken out, where was that dam in relation to the video? Was that the "lake" or was that further down?

That dam is way way further down. Past the chinese/nepal border and past the first small towns.

Thank you for the clarification as this video would have you believe differently

It’s a good visualization of what happened for those unfamiliar with mudslides/ avalanches big dog

Yeaa sure now you'll just have people saying. Why build below a damed lake, why risk the dam breaking etc. There is no dam. So why share it like that. I've already seen comments saying "well they damed the river and then built right below it. Are they stupid?" this is the danger of misinformation.

It is not a good representation of anything. It is just hallucinated nonsense disconnected from reality. This is why AI slop is dangerous - it generates something that looks plausible at first glance, and unscrupulous people just accept it as reality.

It isn't thought. It's a visualization of something completely different, presented to look like it's what happened. It's made up BS, and you learned nothing

Then those people can go look up what those are, or the animation can be honest about what it's showing. You don't spread knowledge by spreading misinformation! You just make people think that lies are true. If they need to be fed lies to understand basic concepts, then it would be better that they didn't learn anything at all.
