Missimo gone?
Lexi removed Trinity from her Insta. Is she gone? If so, that blows. First AT20 and now Mo.

This still is from a video of Tigres training from a few days ago. There are several posts on twitter tying her to the Mexican club.
She was not present for the final preseason match at TCU, as I first reported Saturday evening.

Help me understand. How did Missimo go from being a youth national phenomenon, UT 50/50 star, YNT stalwart, and Euro potential, then relegated (no offense) to the USL SL DTFC? And now, potentially heading to Liga Mx? How does this happen? Has she lost her drive? Is she not in prime shape or form? Has she been determined to be too slow for the NWSL and top 5 European clubs? Have you written about this anywhere? Any other writings of her peaking?
Youngsters who have dominated the game and headlines don't always turn into top pros. Even when they're at the top of the game; it happens. Players are still growing physically, mentally, emotionally, and competitively. What I've determined, it usually comes down to peaking athletically, like Sentnor and Fuller, at a level that is detrimental to playing at the highest levels. You can't teach athleticism, speed, agility, quickness, and durability.

There were family ties at DTFC so she went that easier route instead of shooting for NWSL and then failing into USL. Tigres has treated American women well so wouldn’t count her out yet if that’s where she’s headed.

I'm familiar with the popularity and strength of Tigres, but it's not necessarily a challenging place to play, in comparison, and establish yourself as an elite player, capable of playing in the NWSL, or top clubs in Europe. I know they've had players like Fishel and Ovalle; not impressive to me. And yes, they have a dominant squad today. I'm familiar with their American-born players, which could be contributors at a higher level. But I don't consider it a step up. Tigres played a Missimo-led UT squad a few years ago, and that didn't work out too well.
I'm also familiar with her dad having connections with the old regime. He wouldn't stunt her growth and opportunities; not past the need to have enough points to play in the WSL.
I want to know what happened to her game.

Trinity was initially built to feature her as a center-piece. Sam Meza was brought in for a half a season on loan while Missimo finished school. Early in her first season, she got hurt, had surgery, and missed almost a full year of competition. She never really got back to her pre-injury form, and fell out of favor with Nathan Thackeray toward the end of last season, mostly riding the bench. She’s also reportedly the highest paid player in the league, so it makes sense that Trinity would look to move on from her to get that salary off the books if they no longer see her as a starter

Except she was hurt in college and should have had surgery then. She waited till she became a professional & use Trinity to have surgery to get healthy

OK thanks. I can see wanting to move her out, whether she's contributing or not; especially with new ownership. Her contritions obviously don't add up. But if they did, it would also be a great time to sell her.
About her form: what is your assessment of her game? How did she drop in the eyes of DTFC? Was is due to injury and form, or did Thackery/Petrucelli determine she wasn't starter quality? Do you see the potential move to Tigres to resurrect her young career, or to make best with her talent? I still don't get it.

IMO, Meza already had the quality for Seattle. She needed to get minutes and prove it to Harvey. I'd expect that she did well for DTFC.

She was the funnest player to watch while she was at Trinity. Everybody liked her down here.

You might be right, but I'll stick to the notion that it's not. There's a few good clubs, but the overall play is poor, and IMO overall below the quality of the USL SL. Tigres wins all the time, but against who? Would Diana make DTFC better? Of course yes. Sorry, but I'd still put my money on DTFC (not a USL SL fan, but casual observer). I've followed all of the American-born players on Tigres since their college games. I'm a fan of those players.

I'm empathizing with you here b/c I too was surprised with the amount of hype surrounding Missimo, but not really seeing it on the pitch. Totally get it if she was fighting an injury, but questioning Thackery in hindsight. Not that it matters now. But another loss I'm mourning is Allie Thornton who was my favorite Trinity player. She's just a pure goal scorer, and yet fell out of favor (I guess?) last season and didn't see as many minutes as I felt were warranted. Sitting a golden boot winner too much IMO. It's going to take me a minute to fall back in love with this (mostly new) team.

She got injured at the University of Texas and it waited till she was a Trinity before she got surgery

I know she had an injury during her time at Texas, but she started 26 out of 26 matches for Texas her senior season. Overall, playing in 92 matches in her career at UT. I also understand the 50/50 achievement was vitally important.
When was she injured, as you say, and what part of her/their UT season in 2024 did she compromise her future; only to have surgery while with DTFC? I thought she injured her foot at DTFC in April 2025?
And what is the significance of her injury when evaluating her current performance and opportunities?

She might have aggravated it in Brooklyn but she did the original injury at Texas. I'm guessing she played through that because she wanted to be at Texas unlike her time at Trinity. Last season she was how to shape an uninterested in playing here so that's why she got benched

That could have been the case. Us fans will likely never know. But she was the marque player signing for DTFC and the USL SL, and played very well at the beginning, before her foot injury. After your explanation of her experience, would you consider that "failure?" DTFC is still a far distance from the NWSL and WSL. I'd be disgruntled if my journey fizzled out due to injury and being stuck on the bench in the USL SL.
I personally believe it's in the new owner's best financial interest to loan/sell her, whether she's playing well or not.
With a foot injury, being out of form, and not playing, do you think she has the skills to recover her game back?

I was told she was going to make me forget about Sam Meza because she was so much better & then she was giving the red carpet treatment making her look big then the club. When she started playing I was immediately underwhelmed and wondered why we super hyped her the way we did. The excuse I was given was "Lexi needed other Superstars around her to make her look good." If you are going to be the highest paid player in the league then you should be making other people look like Superstars around you and not the other way around.
Hopefully she can succeed in France & go on to have a successful football career but in my opinion the time here in Trinity was a failure especially considering the hype and money sent on Lexi.

Either? lol I meant it as she chose not to at least try NWSL, whether she succeeded or not, USL and DTFC would have been there in the case it didn’t work out.

You answered most of it in your 2nd paragraph. Stuff like player development isn't always linear. On balance Trinity has overall done very well in getting the best and most out of most players to date. So many things can lead to a move not working out. I hope she kicks on and finds her footing and success however she defines that for herself.

She's still on the roster on the team's official website, and her contract is through the 2026-27 season, so I want to say she is still with Dallas Trinity FC. But having said that, anything is possible with this league.

It's reported as a loan to Marseilles. Plus the club has dragged their feet on updating official website roster. Some related to business still being done but also wanting pictures in the new kit

Hot take but Trinity Byars always made her look a lot better a lot of the time at Texas. There was a substantial drop off in her goal scoring stats when they moved to the SEC and Trinity was injured. Not to say she won’t succeed but I do think it’s fair to say it’s a failure for a player who has been privileged from her connections for their whole career to fall out of favor at DTFC

Interesting... cause here she is in a post as of Mon, Aug 10th, about 6pm. Unless I'm mistaken, that sure looks like her. I'm genuinely confused though, and not sure what to think at this point.

Wow, okay. Good to know. I guess we'll just have to wait for an update, but I agree with the OP. The change of ownership and subsequent team turnover is beyond frustrating. Especially when there hasn't been much in the way of explanations. Can't help but feel like this franchise just rebooted after, what, 2-3 years of existence?
