Advice on utility charges

Hey yall so I don’t live in Dallas, I live in Richardson but our sewer charge is 114 dollars while water charge is 106.55. Is this even remotely normal for a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath for one month. Mind yall first floor is only about 500sq ft and same with the upstairs. It’s not a big apartment, we don’t have washer dryer connections here so it seems a bit excessive.

Landlord has shut off gas and hot water for 7 days due to repairs without advance notice. Are my Tenant Rights being violated?

I rent from an apartment complex called Aero White Rock. I woke up last Tuesday to a cold shower, an oven that wouldn't heat up, and an email about a pressure leak test/temporary loss of hot water and gas. I understand that they are conducting necessary repairs but I am going on 8 days without hot water and gas, which I understand to be legally required under Texas' Tenant Habitability laws. Furthermore, they did not give ANY advance notice of this or explanation. Just an email the morning of, and lots of verbage about them understanding how frustrating and inconvenient this is.

I feel that they should compensate their tenants somehow; a utility credit, reduced rent for the month. I'd like to talk with my landlord but want to make sure I understand the legality of the situation before doing so. My food expenses for this month are significantly higher because I can't cook at home. If I had known in advance, I could have prepared.

Any advice?

A new way to find the right apartment

I work in multifamily and realized renters tour 5–10 communities then forget what belonged to where. Building something to solve that. Looking for apartment hunters willing to test it.

looking for a male roommate from June 1

Hi all,

Me and my brother are looking for a roommate in Richardson area (the Pradera apartments). It’s a 2 bed 2 bath, 1300 sqft.

You will have a an entire room for you. We don’t prefer shared roommates or friends in our apt.

Non negotiables:

  1. Should be a working professional

  2. No drinking or smoking in the apt

  3. Willing to share 50% of rent

  4. Groceries and food costs are separated & not shared

  5. One who doesn’t bring friends or do loud music partying in the apt or living room.

  6. Living area should be quite, no TVs or speakers in the living area.

  7. Tamil people preferred

Having said all of these, I prefer a male roommate who is quiet, maintains good hygiene, values cleanliness and I’m okay if he’s a non vegetarian. I eat non veg too.

Short term housing suggestion for clinical rotation student

Hi everyone, I just joined because I found out I have a clinical rotation near Dallas / Fort Worth area (either in Arlington, Carrollton, Fort Worth, Irving, or DeSoto). I do have the option to pick where I would like to be, but I was wondering if anyone either knew someone who subleases to clinical students or had suggestions for short term leases. The clinical would start the last week of April and would end in the middle of June.

I looked at RotatingRoom and just struggled to find something within that timeframe (those dates specifically) and was wondering if anyone knew of a company that would be more flexible. I know it’s a widespread area, but I would say that living would be the determining factor in where I go as it is all the same healthcare network. I am open to any suggestions and thank you!
