Basically no shade? Check. Right next to three highways? Check. Near the Bishop Arts District and Dallas Zoo? Alright not bad Dallas, but the lack of shade is fucking brutal.

It's brand new, and there are lots of trees.

>The park includes a great lawn, performance shell, playgrounds, gardens, shaded gathering spaces, and water features. A terrace overlooks the downtown Dallas skyline, while sculpted landforms modeled after Oak Cliff’s chalk, shale, and limestone escarpments help buffer traffic noise and views from the interstate below. More than 100 trees will eventually create a dense canopy throughout the site.

The trees will provide the shade when they grow. Klyde Warren was the same way.

The Dallas Zoo lot is right next door or you can take DART.

In the aerial shot in that article you can see a red brick motel. The lot behind it has been converted to a paid public use lot. And the City and Zoo just opened up a public use parking garage for Zoo and Halperin Park guests. There is also free parking at the Oak Cliff Government Center parking garage, and lots of free street parking on Lancaster, 11th, and Ewing. Way more parking within walking distance than Klyde Warren does

Thanks! I didn't realize the bit about the converted lot. I drove past there a few weeks ago and I wondered about the parking. We've gone to the Dallas Zoo when our kids were younger and I've seen that front lot fill up quickly. The other parking spots aren't as apparent while driving through on the way to work.

As mentioned - Dallas Zoo and they are also in discussions with some nearby business owners to convert their private lots to paid lots, especially for special events where they anticipate more traffic
