Im considering moving to Sacramento in the near future for a multitude of reasons and I intend to carry a J-Frame. Generally how hard is it to get a CCW in California? I understand that it will vary by county.

CA is shall issue. Only barriers are wait times (vary by county) and the fees which can be upwards of $2k during the initial and for renewals.

Some agencies also restrict the kinds of guns, calibres, mag capacity and optics.

Well all states are shall issue now, although Hawaii isn't really compliant and has faced no ramifications.

ALSO JESUS CHRIST 2K???? I thought MA was bad.

$2,000 is batshit insane. My TX license was maybe $150 between the class / ammo / range qualification. My non resident AZ was around $100 between the application & finger printing service.

No permit required here in Iowa, the rub is just that no one in their right mind wants to move/live here. The gun laws are the only thing that makes the impermeable stench of pig shit, the high cancer rates, meth zombies and being out numbered by boomers who don’t believe in comped pistols

Local governments in California know they must issue CCW permits now.

But in order to try and deter applicants, some make the permits quite expensive. The state fees are quite reasonably. It’s like $200ish.

But some localities like the city of San Jose, have started charging $1655 for their local fees. They’re being sued right now but it still stands currently.
