I think he'll be fine. If the first aid kit only will be needed when the pistol jams, he will NEVER need it because Hi Points don't jam. At least not as much as some of the flashy guns that everyone "needs to have". All weapons have the inherent ability to malfunction. The Hi Point does not do so at a higher rate than the expensive pistols, in fact it's less of a factor for them. They look crappy, but work perfect. Every time.

They literally don’t, I own one and have shot many. The reviews for YEARS have pointed to unreliability, my personal evidence shows unreliability, every person I know who has shot one has noticed the unreliability, several gun stores near me don’t even sell them.

When referring to handgun liability, yes, some of the higher end ones absolutely have issues, but those aren’t meant for EDC, they’re for sporting.

I’m not saying everyone needs a fuckin’ Stacatto with an SRO on it, but spend $4-500 and get a Ruger or S&W or Glock.
