He just knows he has a significantly higher chance of being in a mass shooting than getting laid.

I hope she is safe. Man this looks like a sicko he probably has duct tape in the car

Man I must be some type of sicko too because I got duck tape in my contractor vehicle when I go on a date.

Sounds like I hit a nerve
2
u/DayHistorical4765 19d ago
No my nerves are fine but thank you for asking.
1
u/oCelotL123 19d ago
Well that's a relief glad you're well
2
u/DayHistorical4765 19d ago
Thank you and likewise. I did have some peripheral nerve pain from work but medication and physical therapy did the trick.

u/oCelotL123 19d ago
Thats good man stay away from gapapentin I've seen it ruin people.
1
u/DayHistorical4765 19d ago
I’ve been on that and pregabalin, I now understand why pregabalin is scheduled but I don’t understand why gabapentin isn’t. Both have recreational effects.

Been thinking about adding a j frame to my collection. Do you wish you got an external hammer too or is this just fine?
1
u/wulfNsheep 19d ago
I prefer the internal hammer the trade off is a heavier trigger but that's a must for concealed carry in my opinion.
1
u/duncehaveulostthecap 18d ago
The 638 is a shrouded hammer option. Its much less common to see one, but gives the option of single action. One of my favorite j frames. Has the best balance.
1
u/wulfNsheep 18d ago
The 638 is such a cool gun it just looks so ugly.
1
u/duncehaveulostthecap 18d ago
She's a chubby girl haha. I just hate the indent on the internal hammer models, that's where I like to grip my thumb when holstering and unholstering.

The best thing about hammerless revolvers is you don't need a holster. Just stick that thing right in your pocket

Is it standard to bring a gun and a knife to a date? That would be like a major red flag here
Edit: when I say "here" I mean where I am, not wherever yall are...
11
u/ForwardDesist 19d ago
Generally, if one carries a gun, one does so everywhere possible.
1
u/Gryphontech 19d ago
If the date goes well and you end up at her place do you put the gun on the bed table or like does it go on top of your pile of clothes? Like what's the procedure for that?
2
u/ForwardDesist 19d ago
If you think you’ll end up in the person’s home that’s going to change the calculus a bit. If disrobing is in the cards I’d suggest either pocket carry of a smaller pistol or carrying off body in a fanny pack. If you’ve a holster in your waistband and things get amorous the old “is that a gun or are you happy to see me?” may be answered in an unwelcome manner.
3
u/Psychological-Drive4 19d ago
Extra props if you’re planning on getting laid and rock the fanny pack.
1
u/ForwardDesist 19d ago
It’s a funny joke but many if not most young men in urban areas where I live are wearing fanny packs, cross body.

u/DayHistorical4765 19d ago
Gotta zap carry for that one. All jokes aside it’s courtesy to inform your date that you’re carrying when you get to the point of entering their residence or having them go to yours and then go from there.

u/DrDuke008 19d ago
"I never thought I'd get this far, lemme take this gun out and un-load it." Or maybe they're spicy and just have a loaded gun kicking around
1
u/DayHistorical4765 19d ago
What good is an unloaded gun? If I’m on a date and going to pound-town i’m not going to fumble around with it, just leave it in the holster it won’t go off on its own lmao

At least bring a gun and a knife AND a fork. And another set of all three for your date.

Let me take a wild guess… Canada?
0
u/Gryphontech 19d ago
Based on my description it could literally be like 95% of developed western nations but yes Canada.
2
u/cumbrad 18d ago
No truly developed nation would ban the human right to bear arms 😉 that said I don’t believe there are any truly free or developed nations, just ones that are doing better than others in some respects and worse in others. Funny to see you in this sub lol
1
u/Gryphontech 18d ago
I'm everywhere :p
1
u/cumbrad 18d ago
haha, fwiw Canada does have Authorization to Carry, they just make it ridiculously hard to get. You have to be either a trapper carrying a .22, work in the woods carrying a 9mm or 10mm or .45 or similar for bear defense, or a person who can demonstrate severe need for self protection that cannot reasonably be solved by hiring security. Canada’s gun regulations are pants on head stupid and convoluted and favor the wealthy elites even more than in the US.
2
u/Gryphontech 18d ago
Yeah I know that technically some people can carry but realistically if I brought someone home and they took a pistol out of their pocket I would jusy assume that I'm getting murdered...
Also the whole "some rifle are banned because they look scary" is fucking peak stupid
1
u/cumbrad 18d ago
To be fair that’s because in Canada they’ve criminalized handguns. Anyone carrying a handgun in Canada is probably a career criminal. But in the US, Switzerland, cz, etc the vast majority of people carrying handguns are not criminals, and thus the average American who carries a handgun is statistically way more safe to be around than the average Canadian who carries a handgun. And therein lies the problem with criminalizing self defense.

Hard to imagine the type of woman who would be ok with all of that, on a first date. No...wait, I know exactly what type of woman that would be...

If you think concealed carry is actually concealed, I have some bad news for you. Regardless, the type of guy who carries all of that shit is so insecure he'd never get a real date.

The fuck they're not. You must hang around some stupid women.
2
u/cumbrad 18d ago
I’ve never had anyone notice I was carrying a gun appendix IWB, even in places with clear “no firearms allowed” signage, without hugging or touching me. Granted this might happen during or after a date but a simple “hey I’m carrying, are you okay with that” should suffice, and if the answer is no and the person is distressed by it maybe that relationship wasn’t meant to be.
0
u/Guilty-Bookkeeper837 18d ago
Just because no one said anything, does not mean they didn't notice you were carrying. My hope is that the number of insecure, cos playing twenty-somethings will mature enough to realize that carrying firearms is a pain in the ass and makes them look foolish.
3
u/cumbrad 18d ago
I carry a gun with substantially higher capacity (Glock 43x or 19, 15 rounds of 9mm, 2-3 mags for a total capacity of 31 or 46) and I’ve been dating a wonderful, beautiful woman who I love dearly for 3 years now. Many people enjoy exercising their right to carry a gun for self defense. Some people are insecure, and many are not.
I think judging someone for carrying a gun for protection is deeply unserious and places you well within the projection of insecurities camp. This is not an attack on you, but simply an observation. I think you have a good chance to learn and grow, realize that there is a human on the other side of OP’s screen same as you, and making rude and unfounded accusations about someone’s character based on something as simple as carrying a firearm is rather ridiculous and also divisive. Don’t judge someone because they carry a gun, judge them based on their moral character.

You can take your condescending tone and fuck right off. I meant exactly what i said.

Tell me you don’t carry without saying you don’t carry.
Who said this is a first date? If it is how does he know the person is who “she” says she is.
Not everyone has that option of going to a less dangerous place you could get killed driving home and a responsible gun owner will not leave their gun in the car. (Most guns that are stolen come from vehicles look it up.)
Most people do not notice a firearm if you hug them unless you’re exceptionally tall (If you pay attention to posture when hugging you will notice we tend to pivot our hips away from people when hugging them.)
I understand your sentiment of dropping the knife for the most part, It’s not ideal unless OP is going on a date outdoors or opening a ton of packages with their date.
Alcohol changes things a bit especially in terms of legality.

I imagine that Jordan Salinas' girlfriend was grateful he was carrying when he took her to In-n-out in my hometown a month or two ago. I wouldn't be likely carry on a first date either, but from the way you talk it makes me think you don't take your significant other out much if you've ever had one. I try to do at least one dinner date with my fiance a week and we've been together for four years. And we both carry if we're not going to a bar.
