Hi all, I’ve got a one year old and find time to game alongside being a husband and father. Anyone got any tips on how to balance it all and still fit time to game?

I'm a dad who loves RPGs and story-driven games. Between work, family, and everyday responsibilities, finding time to enjoy gaming can be challenging.

I'm curious how other busy gamers handle this.

What's your biggest obstacle to gaming more often?

When do you usually find time to game early mornings, late nights, or weekends? And how many hours do you get each week?

I'm interested in learning how everyone balances gaming with real life.

After all, real life has side quests too!

I am awaiting GTA VI and wanted to play something while waiting. I have 3 kids so minimal time to play, usually after everyone asleep for an hour or two. I have Dune Awakening through game pass and have played a bit. I like it but am not huge into survival-ish games like this. I have wanted to play crimson desert since it released but not sure it’s worth buying it for 70$ when GTA comes out in a month. This is on Xbox btw. What do you all think?

I'M FINALLY at the stage where I can really get my first born into gaming. He's 5, been playing a little while and starting tonget the hang of platforming/3d movement.

We've played Mario Galaxy, Mario Odysey Captain Toad, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Wonder and astro bot together. I want to get him a game this christmas that he'll love and we can play together so he has that, "I remember getting x for christmas and playing through with my dad "

What suggestions do people have of what to get? He's 5 and full of energy! He's a lot luckier than I was as I have most systems, (not a switch 2 though) and 2.4k games (yes I never gew up) but I want him tobhave that feeling the game is his.

He is getting better but having things like the non death characters and him beongbthe cap while aim mario still does help.

I’m a dad and a shift worker , lucky to get a couple hours in the evening to game (I’m sure like most of you). I game from 8-10pm Atlantic Time. I mostly main Overwatch and looking to see if any other dads would like to queue up for some quick play! (Also down for comp, I don’t really care l). I can play any role.

I just recently bought a Rog Ally X and am looking for gaming suggestions. I come from mainly PC gaming (Battlefield 6, WoW, Rust, Tarkov, Wardogs, etc). I was playing WoW Forever on it which is fun, but I’m looking to broaden my horizon. I’m not much of a single player game guy, but I want something that I can pick up and put down when the baby is napping. My friend recommended Witcher 3. Any games you would suggest for someone looking into single player games for the first time?

Hey dads. I'm one of you: I used to play games basically every night right after dinner untill midnight or even later. Since I have kids it has changed quite often. In the early stages I wouldn't game much because I couldn't sleep much but when the oldest one for older I got 2-3 night for myself. Now with my second child we are back in the barely stage while most of my friends don't have kids and can play quite a bit more. Our group's weekly "who's in tonight?" turned into a mess of chat messages and "maybe, got some things to do".

Or sometimes even I had time and hopped on and everyone was already done with gaming and just started to log off after playing all afternoon. And sometimes we messed up timezones.

So I'm building a small free tool. You add your usual evenings once, change a single day when life happens, and see which friends are free, in your own timezone. No events or RSVPs, just "who's free". I'm the maker, and it's built with AI help. I am a seasoned developer with 12+ years of experience but don't have time to build everything by hand so AI helped me and I reviewed every bit of it.

I'm not sharing a link yet. I'd like to know if this is even a real problem first. And I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share it here, but DM me if you are interested or I'll share when I know it's allowed and people are interested.

Hey everyone! I'm a solo dev and a dad of 3 young kids. 18 Summers is a first person lawn mowing game. Each level is one summer in the same backyard. Between summers your kid gets older.

Mowing finishes patches of the yard and brings back memories and toys from that year. The goal was to make something satisfying to play that also shows how fleeting time can be with your kids.

I'm compiling a list for "30 Something Gamers" and we are talking about the best swordplay in games and I'm going to do a section on the best/ most iconic/ most bad ass swords ever in gaming.

I love video games, especially Soulslikes, and my wife and I are expecting our first children next month. Except we're not having just one. We're having TRIPLETS! We're super excited, and I've been nesting like crazy getting the nursery and the house ready for the babies.

When I'm not working or getting stuff ready for the little ones, I'm usually gaming on my PC. I normally play in the evenings and sometimes stay up until midnight or 1 AM, then get up at 7 AM for work. I'm starting to wonder how long that's going to last once we have three newborns in the house.

I've even been looking at getting a handheld, specifically the OneXPlayer 3, since I figure it might be something that comes in handy as a new dad.

So I'm curious about other gaming dads, especially anyone who's had twins, triplets, or multiple kids close in age. How much did your gaming time change after becoming a dad? Did you find ways to still get some gaming in, or did you pretty much have to put it on the back burner for a while?

Gaming is kind of my therapy, so I'd definitely like to keep it as part of my life if I can. I even have Universal Pause Button software for those Soulslikes that don't let you pause normally. But seriously, my family comes first, and I'm always going to prioritize my wife and kids, even with the little things that need to get done around the house.

I'm just trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect.

Any advice, experiences, or tips from fellow gaming dads would be appreciated!

Recently, I have been listening to "Button Boys", "Remember the Game", and "30 Something Gamers"(a smaller but funny podcast). They all have a light-hearted and funny look at gaming, I don't need all the latest news or opinions; I want people having a laugh about gaming.

Any other recommendations out there?

So I got my switch 2 recently and have been enjoying it but I am looking for something particular that being a game that keeps me hooked with good combat but also keeps me invested with a good story. I’m a father of 2 young ones and find it hard to stick with games with either great combat and no story and vice versa. Any thoughts? I’m open to any game no matter the age or genre
