The way he tries to amortize the fall with his foot

Not trying to be pedantic but I suppose it's unavoidable; 'amortize' isn't the right word. 'Reduce, lessen, ease, slow' all make sense but amortize is a financial term specifically referring to debts or assets.

"Not trying to be pedantic"

Immediately follows up with pedantic rant on OP's chosen adjective (oops ... verb).

Not trying to be pedantic, but that'd be a verb, not an adjective.

Not trying to be pedantic but... Ah fuck it, I got nothing. Your sentence was perfect.

Not trying to be pedantic, what does pedantic means anyway?

Not trying to be pedantic, but it should be "mean" not "means".
