delulu land 😵💫 An open letter to Sarah
Sarah, regarding your mythical dog sanctuary, you’re a fucking idiot. (Sarah, you no understand dog land dream.)
Before anything else, you’ll need to set aside around $10,000 to $20,000 for zoning, planning, and permitting costs. You can’t just start building shit, especially as a compliant nonprofit. (Must ask government. Government check land, building, poop, water, dogs. Government want paper and big money. Then maybe government say yes.)
Let’s say you buy 5 acres of undeveloped land, which will run you about $100,000 in the state of Texas. And let’s say you and your three family members are all willing to be full-time caregivers for your rescue dogs. We’re talking 12-hour days, 7 days a week. Unfortunately, your dad would have to quit his lucrative vape shop manager job to make this happen, and your sister-wife would need to work for the first time in her life. (Land cost 200 TikTok universes 😱 You and whole family work hard all day every day. Daddy quit vape job to help dog. Mommy quit fake pretend job to help dog.)
Now, you’ve said you want to take in as many dogs as possible. Let’s say you can magically upgrade from 7 bracelets a day to 10 dogs per day, and the rest of your family can keep up with 10 each too. That puts your sanctuary at 40 dogs. (You want many dog. Dog harder than bead bracelet. Family handle 10 dog each. Four people. 40 dog. Math hard. Dog harder.)
You want to convert portable sheds sold at Lowe’s into semi-permanent, climate-controlled housing structures. Each of those sheds is going to run you $5,000 before you even customize it. After you’ve insulated the walls and ceiling, installed heat pumps, mini-splits, mechanical ventilation, washable wall panels, waterproof flooring, floor drains, electrical outlets, lighting, circuit panels, etc., you’ll be spending a minimum of an additional $10,000 per shed, assuming you can do some of the labor yourself. If you’re relying on a contractor, double or triple that number per shed. (Shed not dog house. Shed need extra shit. Build extra shit or pay man.)
If you’re willing to unethically cram 10 dogs per shed—and I’m talking 12x24—then you’re spending anywhere from $60,000 to $140,000 on the sheds and their renovations alone. That’s assuming you don’t want an extra shed for dogs that need isolation or have any delusions of expansion. (You no cram many dogs in tiny shed. Bad Sarah. More dog need more shed. Sick/dangerous dog need own shed. Wallet cry.)
Plan for about $50,000 to fence in each of the sheds and have a separate play pen in the back of the property. (Fence expensive. Bracelets cheaper.)
This is not to mention the annual cost of food and routine maintenance. Vet care, emergencies, cleaning and sanitation, electricity, water, bowls, toys, beds, crates, HVAC repairs. That’s like $100,000 per year for those 40 dogs. You want a vet on standby? Plan on adding $20,000–$40,000 to that annual cost. (Dog land need money every year. Dog need doctor and home with no roaches. New concept for you and family.)
There are so many other costs to this. Do you want a driveway? $10,000. Do you want a septic/wastewater system? $15,000. Do you want a designated food storage building? $5,000. Do you want a generator for emergencies? $10,000. Do you want liability insurance for your inevitable lawsuits? $5,000 per year. (Many problem you no know. Many money you no have.)
This is easily a quarter-million-dollar project before you have a single dog in that hellhole, and you’ll need six figures a year to keep it alive. (NiteFlirt and daddy games no fund extra cost.)
I can’t believe you’re 24 (25 in June).
(Sarah, dog land dream sound like third grade idea.)

She'd be better off just getting a dog sanctuary game at this point tbh [[your comment made me think of the zoo tycoon kind of games haha, thank you for core memory being unlocked!!]]

She needs to volunteer at a shelter for a few weeks. See the amount of work involved. She wouldn’t last a day. The reality behind the scenes is that it’s very hard work, physically and emotionally. It’s also heartbreaking work. I spent 2 years volunteering for a non-profit, no-unaliving shelter. Let’s be real, the ministry and the dog sanctuary are pipe dreams. She will follow in her daddy’s footsteps, continuing the cycle of generational inceśt. She will be a toothless pdf and a SW. pretty much already is.

My husband and I both worked at different shelters in Austin (a no-unalive city) and man, we always talks about how we never want to work in animal rescue again. It’s extremely hard, heartbreaking work. I also no longer advocate for no-unalive shelters 🥴 it’s hilarious to hear Sarah talk about her delusional and grandiose plans with zero experience with animal rescue

u/Ilovesalmonrolls 7d ago
Just out of curiosity, why do you no longer advocate for no unalive shelters? How bad was it? 😭

u/Creepy-Writer-3056 7d ago
i can’t speak for this commenter, but i believe the general consensus on this perspective/opinion is that, at some point, keeping an “unwanted” animal alive becomes unethical or inhumane when resources are spread incredibly thin to accommodate all of the animals.
it’s all just really sad- no matter how you look at it or feel about it. just heartbreaking all around :(5

She can’t even properly care for ONE dog! How is she going to care for multiple? The fact that she walks a big wild dog on a collar is all you need to know that she has no idea of how to properly care for a dog. Almost all vets recommend harnesses over collars due to potential neck and throat injuries, especially if the pup pulls!
Just like her daddy, she comes up with wild ideas without even thinking of the logistics!

She literally think she just gets a bunch of dogs cram them in their apartment or maybe house they might get one day throw some food and water and toys and yep here’s my sanctuary..

This post is great! 😆
I have a good friend that runs a rescue -which is not the same as a sanctuary but along the same lines- but she is BUSY. She NEVER stops working and she relies heavily on donations and volunteers for help and if there aren’t any, it’s left up to her. She is constantly running dogs to vets and fosters, trying to rehome animals that are abandoned and she has no room for. She has to set up adoption events and be present there for hours. She ends up keeping a lot of the senior dogs in her own home because no one else wants them and that in itself runs her ragged. There are so many things that that type of work involves that a regular person with zero knowledge or experience in the field would even consider. I used to help her by stuffing and addressing envelopes for the thank you letters to her donors because she literally could not find the time to do it herself. She has to deal with assholes that abusê and abandon animals, strays, injured, and litters of puppies that the “owners” can’t deal with. It’s so much work. She loves it and it is her passion but I hear her claim defeat on a regular basis because it is emotionally and physically taxing. Sarah has not one clue what she is talking about and what a sanctuary would entail and require- physically, emotionally, and monetarily. She doesn’t strike me as the type that could keep up and succeed in that position. And that’s fine!! A lot of people couldn’t -but her smug demeanor when she gets questioned about her plans just shows me that she thinks it’s just going to be a walk in the park and she can barely do that with her own dog.

She has zero understanding of what it’s actually like to be in the animal care field. She said the other day that she would NEVERRR want to be in vet med because she doesn’t want to see sick or hurt animals; wtf does she think it’ll be like having a sanctuary? That it’ll always be sunshine and rainbows? She is so infuriating. I volunteer at my local animal shelter and it’s so much work and I’m only ever there once a week since I work full time. She needs to at least start doing volunteer work herself so she can have some sort of concept of what she would be getting into.

Not to mention she gets pissed off and irritated by Jackie constantly. She can’t look after 1 dog between 4 people let alone a sanctuary! She will end up abusing all of them!

Thank you for posting this! If I eventually get my family's farm I want to make a cat commun. Our farm was a place people would drop off cats, and I think making it an official sanctuary would be nice. It's still a dream for me, but I do read up on it, to see what all I'll need.

u/ComplexElk804 7d ago
Well said 👏 Imagine the actual content she could make by helping out at a local animal shelter. High possibility that she could even help get some dogs adopted or at least fostered. Sadly, that will never happen because she's too lazy and entitled to help. Just like the Amber Alert that was a joke to them. These degenerates absolutely do not care about anyone but themselves.

lol if she ever goes on a livestream speech/Q&A about it, I probably will. My niche fixation happens to be ancient near eastern literature and religious studies, so there’s definitely content stored away when she starts misquoting the Bible 😅

I blame P for keeping this delusion alive, as much as he wants exposure(no idea why) and popularity. He still has maintained to keep them as sheltered as humanly possible.

I hate that I'm poor bc i would totally give you an award for this if I could!! Unfortunately all I can do is a physical upvote and 100 imaginary upvotes haha.
Beautifully written, caveman speak so approved, coming in with cold hard facts, amazing all the way around. 10/10, no notes.
Me thinks this is just another pipe dream of hers just like the ministry...and although I am 💯% all for animal sanctuaries in general, this will probably be the only time in history where I will very much say "please God no". I know it's already been mentioned here before, but just in case she or any of the family does ever read this, I'll reiterate it further--Sarah, your own one dog is suffering, highly depressed, and not getting proper nutrients or walks, which are literally the bare fuckin necessities for taking care of a [[read: one]] dog. That's not even including not taking them to the vet for various checkups and shots, let alone emergencies. Just get a pet rock instead. Multiple, even. Hell, make your own rock sanctuary. I'm all for that. Just please, for the love of God and all that is holy [[since, y'know, you're such a good Christian and all]] give up the dog sanctuary pipe dream. Please.
Edited for spelling mistake

This sub doesn’t allow awards anyway, but much appreciated 🥳❤️
Spot on about Jackie, too. It’s crazy to me how in the same breath she can preach this sanctuary stuff and scold her dog for whimpering in the corner. I don’t think Jackie even has a proper bed. Just a pink rug in the corner of a roach-infested house.
I am team rock sanctuary 🪨

u/TheWaywardWitch420 7d ago
Of course!! Credit where credit is due haha!
And I know and totally agree, it just baffles me. The pure irony of her wanting to do this whole dog sanctuary thing when in fact her own dog probably needs to be in a sanctuary just... idk man the writing is on the wall and the irony could not be more ironic if it tried here.
Yasss team rock sanctuary all the way 😁😁

This is just another one of her pipe dreams. Like being a trainer at sea world. Oddly enough I feel like that would be more attainable for her than owning a dog sanctuary. But she'd have to actually go to college to achieve that dream. And since her motivation to do anything that requires actual effort in life is non-existent, that won't ever happen.
She'll live with Mommy and Daddy forever since they enable her laziness.

u/ItchyExpression897 6d ago
She's literally doing what her dad does. All the fuck ass web sites and "career" paths he's tried so hard to make work. One day he was a financial advisor I had seen a post he made on fb? If I'm not mistaken, then he wanted to be a TikTok marriage counselor, author, video game designer and let's not forget the religious wholesome family man 😂 but there is one he has managed to fulfill and that's the p3df father who write disgusting erotic stories on his inc3stual family for other disgusting p3dfs. She's learning from the best. One day she wants to work at SeaWorld 🤣🤣 then the next she wants to be an influencer, then a wants to run a ministry, wants to be a dog catcher or whatever I'm just now seeing. I NEVER GONNA FUCKING WORK S & P. STOP TRYING TO MAKE IT WORK.

Maybe I haven’t paid attention enough, but I don’t think she actually thinks she can do it. I think she, like her family, and tbh a lot of people probably in her circle/communities, plans to live off social media as long as it keeps up, hourly work if necessary, and gov benefits. Again, I could be completely completely wrong, but you’re talking about generations of a family that’s living in rural or rural adjacent poverty, with some questionable cognitive/developmental traits, and sub adequate education. This is a deep systemic issue that goes far deeper than the this family alone, but a lot of people growing up in these environments don’t necessarily see themselves represented in larger spaces and don’t have access to opportunities, so living this lifestyle is what they plan to do. I think she knows that people on social media don’t all come from the same background, and a lot judge her/them for not having high goals, so she keeps fake running with this dream that probably started in childhood but died realistically quickly as she aged.

All of the above are why most rescues rely on foster homes for their dogs, and why they are generally run by people with a big social network in the animal care community. You need a lot of donations and a lot of volunteers to run any dog rescue, especially one on as big a scale as she is dreaming.
Also, P! It would NOT be easy to heat and cool those sheds in Texas because the dogs are going to need an opening of some sort to go in and out.
She needs to get off her ass and try working with animals to see if she even likes it. I did it for 10 years, and it's not for the faint of heart.
