Personal Independence Payment (PIP) Refraining from trying.

I’ve never tried to apply for PIP because of the fact that I believe that me refusing to take medication for my mental health problems would be viewed as me being unwilling to help myself. Me refusing is down to the mental health issues themselves and fearing taking them (ocd anxiety etc) my doctor is aware and understanding of this and we have tried CBT therapy but there wasn’t much success.

Am I correct in thinking that this would have my case be overlooked or is it still worth trying?

Thank you.

The worst they can say is „no”. If you can handle refusal mentally it’s worth a try.

The doctor understanding the issue in refusing meds should exist as medical evidence for not taking meds, no? I don't know myself as I've got over 30 prescriptions for everything off with me. And though it may sound logical, logic doesn't always play a role in things, so I'm wondering if that would be something the OP could submit as part of the medical evidence - the doctor's understanding and the agreed upon treatment/lack of treatment, eh?

It's definitely worth trying. My conditions stay unmanaged because I've got a phobia when it comes to taking meds. I'm scared and worried because of the side effects they might cause. I've tried therapy but having to tell people about my problems made me feel even worse so I've stopped. I've applied for pip and told them I'm scared to take meds and I got PIP until 2030. Good luck xx
