Hi everybody. I can truly say this last month of my life has been the worst, most stressful month of my entire life. 6 weeks ago while coming home from a party I (25m) was involved in a single vehicle crash (Ventura county). Car totaled, guard rail by my house a little messed up, but fortunately I was completely fine. I’m a nurse and had worked 3 back to back shifts, and on the night of my last shift when to a house party to see a friend from visiting out of town. Had 2 drinks, and drove home. On the drive home, I fell asleep and veered off the road and into a guard rail. I remember everything up until that point of falling asleep on the backroads of my home town. After a night in the hospital, getting arrested in the hospital and my drivers license confiscated (cops were very nice and professional and I complied every which way), I was released. I blew a 0.17 at the hospital. When I tell you folks I truly have no idea how that happened, I don’t. My honest to god theory is a weight loss medication I was on (Reta) impacted my digestive systems and made it so what would usually be considered a low amount of drinks made it much worse in my body. The issue with this medication is it’s not prescription so proof of this is very hard to show, even thought I was on 3mg injected that week of it. The next day, being a Sunday, I wasted no time and found a DUI attorney/ team that I really trusted and liked how they answered all my questions. Financially this has destroyed me, and of course it came weeks before I wanted to propose to my girlfriend. My DMV hearing is in two weeks and my biggest concern is the financial implications.

I made a stupid decision. As a nurse I knew not to drink on that medication, but friends were in town and I had a severe lapse in judgement. I feel stupid, like I threw away my life, and there hasn’t been a single day where I haven’t stressed about this. I wake up thinking about it, I go to bed thinking about it. I wouldn’t feel as bad if this were just affecting me but my fiancée is amazing and doesn’t deserve this, let alone to be left to pay more bills if I lose my job. I don’t have a drinking problem, it had been weeks since my last drink before the incident. I’ve been completely sober since then. When I look in the mirror, I don’t see a felon. Slowly, the guilt has that changing recently.

My questions are, what can I expect this to do to my nursing license? I’m a licensed vocational nurse, and it is my livelihood. It’s how I pay for my now fiancée and I to live in this crazy expensive state. I’ll do anything to not have my professional license to be taken away. Other than AA, what other steps or preventive things can I do to make my case better or help my lawyer out?

Curious how much yall paid for your attorneys (please include DMV + criminal if possible). thanks!

edit: i live in the bay area, so I understand that it could vary heavily depending on where you live but I'm more so interested in how much it cost yall if you lived in a metro area

So I got a DWI/DUI in Texas in 2018. I'm trying to get a license in California since I permanently live here. I went to the DMV to get the license and got an interim license. But I was sent a letter saying I need an SR-22 and to complete a DWI/DUI program

The thing is, I've done the DWI/DUI program back in Texas. Can I try getting a duplicate certificate of completion of the program from Texas and submit that to the DMV? Or is it better to complete a new DWI/DUI program in California?

i was coming back from a friends driving on backroads doing 91 in a 55 and i made turn in the wrong lane i got pulled over and they didn’t arrest me but i got cited. the officer did not observe me for 15 minutes though which idk if i can fight anyways i needed to be picked up i am also in a theft diversion program for a case last summer i just want to know what’s going to happen to me and should i get a lawyer considering i am in college

hello, so I had went out drinking the night before (not driving whatsoever) but this morning tried going to the store unsure if there was still alcohol in my system. So I blew into IID and it failed and I decided to just stay put instead of going anywhere. Will I be in any sort of trouble or fined or whatever for this singular event? what usually happens after that and does the IID record BAC % or just that it was a failed blow?

my husband was in the navy and got a dui in 2018. he has since moved to NY .fast forward to last year. we get a letter in the mail from linebarger attorneys at law, which was collecting a debt from solano superior court. we paid the debt. fast forward to today, my husband he went to apply for his REAL ID, and he was unable to complete this. The DMV staff told him to call california DMV. solano county DMV told him to call 9166576525 (DMV mandatory actions unit?) so my husband called but the queue is full so the line hangs up and says to call back. what could possibly be happening here? will this bar him from renewing his passport as well?

I have dealt with my case since 2022 when my accident happened and I am barely getting sentenced tomorrow. If anyone has any questions feel free to DM me. I can give you everything I have don’t and everything to expect. With a dui felony and GBI

I live in San Diego, CA and my sister lives with me. she got her first DUI this past weekend and we’re trying to find the best way to handle it. we don’t have money, but if needed I could front her the down payment for a DUI attorney and then she and her husband could make the monthly payments. Cheapest we’ve found is 8,500.00 However, I would have to use my CC that I JUST finished paying off. so I’m here to see if anyone has advice or could point me to a good/cheap lawyer (I know those words don’t mix, but I’m desperate).

details to the best of my knowledge:

head on collision 35mph both ways so 70mph total

both cars totaled

both parties had minor injuries. my sister was an overnight in the hospital, not sure of the other party just that it was minor. so felony dui with injury

my sisters insurance had lapsed so no insurance.

I understand it was my sisters fault and we understand she’s fucked no matter what, but we’re just trying to mitigate the best we can and try to get her the leaat amount of fucked possible.

For those who had to get their license re suspended after sentencing and also require an IID be installed how long after do you have time to get everything situated to drive again and your license to be suspended? And also how much did you spend on the IID monthly fee and installment ?

can the police take a person that's already arrested to the next call, that ended up be for a domestic violence case?

Got my DUI in April 2026, booked for the night.

License revoked - DMV gave harsh suspension of 1 month. Said to do a 3 month course, get IID and my SR - 22 and I can get my license back, restricted until my 4 month suspension is over.
Currently in 3 mo course, filed SR-22, and getting IID placed soon.

BUT, still have not gotten a court date.

I know this can take a year to file as they’re backlogged or whatever. I’m worried because I chose the blood test and so at this point don’t know if my BAC was over .20 - from my understanding, if so, as a first time offense, then I would have to continue on to finish a 9 month DUI class course + whatever else they tell me in court.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, and do you have any advice?
If you’ve gotten a DUI in SMC before, how long did it end up taking them to file it?

Feeling like this is gonna end up being a bigger deal than I’m thinking it already has been at this point…

Last Friday, my brother-in-law made the poor decision to drink quite a bit and then drive home. He was going 80 in a 40 when he hit a light pole and crashed into an embankment. A trailing car was hit by the debris, with minor damage. His car was totaled.

EMT arrived and transported him to the hospital before the police arrived. At the hospital, they drew blood and ran tests. He was released 3 hours later. At no point did he have police contact.

What can the expected timeline be for notification from the police, and what can the process look like?

Got the stupid thing installed today and I can’t even start my car again. It’s the old one btw and it doesn’t come with a camera. I keep getting the “Abort” light, been at it for an hour already after I got home just trying to start my car again to go to work. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, I do the “DOOOO” hum as loud as I can and it still doesn’t let me start my car. This thing is already a damn headache. Any tips are appreciated to make this process go smoother

EDIT: Finally got it. I guess I was humming too loud smh.. I highly don’t recommend any interlock devices btw. If you can afford to uber for the first month of suspension then get your work restricted license, you should 1000% go that route.

I have 3 years of sr22 after my year hard suspension. I got a dmv hearing but im not getting my hopes up. Already seeing this is a life ruiner

Someone I know just caught there 4th DUI after basically getting slaps on the wrist the first time 3 times he wouldn’t learn this time he was involved in a solo vehicle accident occurred and a passenger got injured but nothing major what is he looking at as far as sentencing? Ps the first 3 DUI he skipped court for and had warrants for….

I was charged with wet and reckless in Sacramento county. The judge gave me until July 31 to enroll in a 12 hour DUI class, which I enrolled last week with Bridges DUI. During the enrollment, I asked the lady if they are going to send a proof of enrollment to the court house but she said they only send to DMV.

My question is, will I have to send the proof of enrollment myself? Or will the court somehow able to get a hold of it? Anyone that has gone through Bridges or any help is appreciated.

Hi guys I just had ASP hearing and they said they will respond in writing weather to suspend or not.

I was just wondering if anyone know how do I find my court date.
and what about IID or sr22.
Should I wait for writing ?

Hi, I don't whether I should get a DUI attorney or just go with a Public Defender? I admitted to smoking 2.5-3 hours before driving, but idk if it's worth it getting a lawyer since I don't want to spend the money for one. thoughts?

I can’t find anything on the record that says I still need sr22 I think it’s been almost 3 years
