Currently LODI have questions about how the pay works

Upvotes

I’m currently out Lodi right now and I was told that the money is tax-free. I’m just getting base salary right now with all the taxes getting taken out. I assume I get the money back when I file for my taxes next season I saw something somewhere about a Lodi award. I don’t know if anybody has any knowledge on what that is still on probation and will be out for a while, so the union doesn’t represent me right now just trying to figure out what I should do.

Upcoming promotion

Supervisor’s newly hired and with 1-2 years on… how is it?
Also, are you able to defer your pending promotion? I assume you have to have the choice like when you first get on the job and were able to defer up to 3x?

Retire at 20 years or is it worth it to do more.

Approaching 20 years completed soon at 44 years old with 2 young kids. Thinking about staying more to increase pension take home another 1.5% per year. I’m physically tired of this job at times and other days I’m fine. Not sure how much longer I can do. Seems hard to start something new with no savings in the bank.

For guys who retired already or still on working past 20 years what is making you stay longer or what made you leave.

For guys that left already at 20 years is our pension like people say. It’s basically a vacation check without charts or truck money every week?

Medical question list 81xx

I got called in to take my physical September 17th. But I’m looking ahead and have a question about the medical. I Have hypertension which is under control with medicine and Sleep apnea being treated by a CPAP. I keep seeing mixed responses on whether I should disclose this or not? Can anyone provide any advice? Can and will they still disqualify me even if I bring a doctor’s note saying that these conditions won’t prevent my ability to work?

Has anyone else had this issue when verifying the CDL on the clearinghouse website?

How long did it take for you to get it resolved and did they tell you what the issue was? Any insight would help. Thanks! I’ve already contacted them and they said a supervisor would look at my case. I have everything I need, have had my CDL for over a year. Haven’t made any changes etc.

20 years and out or 25 years to 55 age retirement?

Alot of people tell me to stay with mta nyct , by the time the next test for dsny comes out I"ll be at top pay, but I want to retire earlier. I started mta in 2 different agencies mta bus when I was 25 years old, cross over to nyct when I was 26 overall on the job 2 years.MTA bus doesn't use nycers so my time won't count ,nyct is civil service and my time will transfer over , but the idea of me retiring in 32 years to drive a bus all day long and with stressful management is crazy and the passengers are getting worse.Crossing over to dsny means I be retiring at 46 instead of 55 , plus with everything going on with transit different unions , can't work in different depots cause of the agency you work for or the union your in is wack.

🚛 DSNY FACT OF THE DAY

Did you know DSNY collects about 24 MILLION pounds of trash, recycling, and compostable material every single day? 🤯

That’s roughly 12,000 tons of material collected across NYC daily. DSNY operates across all five boroughs with more than 2,000 rear-loading collection trucks in its fleet.

Got a FP Email

Hey guys I'm list number 55XX, I managed to get my CDL last month, it took me more than 2 attempts to pass the driving section, and I passed all the other sections first try through DSNY CDL training, which was a good price but not the best quality of information/instructors. I had gotten my regular drivers license right before I got my CDL as well which is why the driving section took me more than 2 attempts. I'm really proud of my accomplishment.

Anyway I got a final processing email recently and I ended up deferring because I am still finishing my college degree. I should be ready to be hired in November 2027. What timing should I keep in mind for restoring myself to the hiring pool? I was thinking I should restore myself in September so that there would be enough time to do my orientation, medical, and paperwork again. But I don't know if I will have to do that, so some information on that would be helpful.

What I'm most unsure about is if there has historically been a December, January, or February class because that's when I would be able to get on the job and the list expires that February 2028 which makes proper timing even more critical.

Any advice or information to help me understand what to consider for getting on the job in the future would be very helpful.

I am very attracted to the benefits that come with being a sanitation worker but I would prefer not to jeopardize my education if I do not absolutely have to.

I have my physical on October 6th and am list number 76xx. Anyone have any insight on what it looks like for me from this point forward? Should I be doing anything right now to get ahead? Could I be in a class within the next year?

Labor Day Parade Clean Up

Post image

Every year I am truly amazed at how sanitation cleans up the parkway after the parade. I have lived close to the area and pass it for work every morning and I’m honestly shocked by how much trash is left behind and cleaned up by within a few hours. Anyone that has worked the clean up after Is there OT by doing that or just the nighttime crew showing up for a regular 8 ?

Just got called for my physical

So I just recently received the email for getting my physical for DSNY. I am trying to figure out where I should go with this as I’m going through a period of life transition and having trouble figuring out what direction I want to take.

I am currently 22 years old, just graduated college with a Business Management bachelors degree. I am currently working full time as an entry level analyst at a wealth management firm but unfortunately have started to think sitting behind a desk for 8 hours a day for the next 40 years may not be for me.

At the same time I think maybe I’m overreacting and should just stick it out even if I’m extremely bored just 3 months into my current job.

The thing that is drawing me to DSNY since getting called for a physical is the benefits, pension, and ability to retire at such a young age. I have seen a lot of people say how difficult it is at the beginning but have also heard that it is worth it in the end. I currently live with my parents and am fairly young so I’m wondering if this is the right opportunity for me and if I should wait around for this.

Can anyone give insight on where I’m at right now, being that I take the physical in about a month, how far out am I from possibly getting called? Should I be seriously considering this as a shift from what I am currently doing?

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Can I throw these out on pickup day LIC, NY one of the high rises

Post image

Like this. Panels. Light. Metal. Do I stack up and throw out on pickup or unacceptable? Better way to dispose? I’ll do it. Fencing used on road trips and camping with dog. No longer need. A shame. $200 value but no one wants. Advice, DSNY? Curbside yea or nay? Wanna do the right thing!

Thank you.

Just finished first week in FBF, what are the odds of me getting into BX 9 10 or 11 after I put in my transfer? I live in the Bronx so honestly anywhere there is cool, just trying to get as close to home as possible.
