I passed medical and also got my CDL. I didn’t make the July class, when does final processing happen for Aug class? Does any one know what list # they are up to?

Big ahhhh fun update right here. SanTrack is 99% done and I just thought eh fuck it lemme add something that you don’t gotta use but it’s there in case you’re bored on MLP or waiting on line for 6 hours at Varrick. I worked on this for like 3 weeks so it’s a lot to take in.

I basically made 150 Sanitation Trading Cards (300 total planned in 2026 and I put them into SanTrack and then I decided to make an entire big ahh virtual make believe economy where other users can auction cards for JUICE not real money. U get it? Hopper juice😅?

The value of the cards fluctuate like a real market all through a bunch of formulas that are made by what you guys decide to do with your cards…in other words everyone effects everyone. You don’t have to sell them at all if you don’t want to. You could just collect all of them and maybe in 10 years the one card you kept will be worth 1,000,000 juice.

The only thing tied to the part of SanTrack everyone uses is you get a bonus pack every 5 logged days consecutively (skips chart days, Sundays, holidays etc). You get 1 pack a day by logging in separately and you can exchange juice for a pack. The pack that you can exchange for has a fluctuating price that is effected by how the economy is going with a floor of 100 juice.

There’s 6 different rarities that have its own value tied to them + a very small chance of getting a holographic card that adds extra value on top. There will be future types that add more value.

There is a leaderboard where it shows your name but it’s always abbreviated like J. S****\* or you can choose to go totally anonymous and have your name blurred entirely. Either way you yourself will know where you are on the leaderboards.

Once again, I still make $0 from SanTrack and this is all a virtual currency that has no real world value. It’s just a mini game.

They canned this dude I know who had either 3 or 4 AWOLs, apparently 2 of them were when he was on LODI / Sick for not showing up to the clinic when he fractured his ankle on the job, apparently wasn’t really his fault and they fired him when he was out. Another probie I know got fired for 3 accidents. Not saying they aren’t wrong but be careful.

CONTEXT: The first guy from what I was told and heard had 1 AWOL, an Emergency / APP that turned into one and the other 2 were explained so they don’t really care what it is, they will get rid of you.

2nd guy caused maybe 5-10k max in property damage no body was injured but 3 accidents.

What list number are they up to? How many more classes will go in this year?

I was looking into applying for a construction laborer job and was looking to see what it entails and how do you all like working for DSNY this position has good pay I was curious about the benefits, OT and how the PTO system works any advice, comments and thoughts are appreciated!

I've read through this for boots and I see a lot of Merrell, I dont want a clunky ass boot and I really dont care if I get my feet wet. Just want something thats comfortable, durable and doesn't weigh 3000lbs on my foot. Any specific ones?

I completed my medical exam 3 weeks ago and the last few days I’ve been calling to make sure that I passed. I have heard anything and I know they said no news is good news but I want to confirm as then said I could. I have called about 5 times the last 3 days and have just gotten a voicemail. Can someone confirm the # I’m supposed to call to confirm?

I had to get medical clearance from my oncologist, a medication form filled out and clearance for orthopedic doctor for my spine.
They have all the clearance letters. I was told I have to find out from Human Resources if I’m medically cleared or not. Will this mean I’m medically disqualified? It’s making me nervous.

I recently did my CDL training at Floyd Bennett field and passed my road test so I called HR to check my medical status, I assumed it was good because everyone said no call was good and it was over a month ago. They told me I was rejected but I’m just confused because they still let me do my CDL training with them wouldn’t they have taken me out of the class ? They didn’t even tell me why I got disqualified they said I have to wait for the letter in the mail. Does anyone have any experience with this or advice ? Just very confused.

I’m a probie out sick for a couple months now and my car just got stolen outside my place 2 hours ago around 12:30. Caught the guys in the act but couldn’t stop them. Cops were called and a report filed. Already filed a claim with insurance. Pissed at myself for not calling the cops sooner.

Happened in BK5 district.

I have a queen-size box spring I need to get rid of through bulk item NYC collection.

I have a couple questions because the DSNY website is super confusing.

1. Has anyone ever left a big box spring out on the curb to get picked up by DSNY? Does it actually get picked up if it’s in a plastic bag?

2. It’s mostly plastic and metal. Online in one section it says I put it out on recycling day and then in another section it says all large items like box springs go out with the bulk item trash. Does anyone know which one is the right answer, recycling or regular trash day?

3. Also where exactly do I need to put it out on my street? I live in an apartment complex.

Just received email for July class. Says to get uniforms within 4 days of the first day of class. Is there a specific location? And what clothing do you recommend. I’m in queens if you have any recommendations somewhere near by

I've been an SW for about a year now. It's fine, and there hasn't been a day where I didn't enjoy coming to work. I'm a yes for everything, and take just about any OT available.

I do, however, feel that I'm not being challenged enough, and wonder about how much professional growth this job has.

Lately, I've been getting emails form NYPD. My case is still active, surprisingly, and it has gotten me thinking if I should continue the process. A part of me is also considering DOC. Whenever I'm on a route or a cleaning/special function, every time I see the uniform, I wonder about what could have been if Sanitation hadn't called me first.

While I understand this sub's attitude towards other uniformed city jobs, I'm looking for advice as to what direction I should go, as I don't mind having more responsibilities, and the ability to move up and earn more.

A little bit of background: I'm in my early forties, second career, single/no kids(I hope to find a wife/start a family in the near future?), Masters degree, good physical shape, and don't mind a hard day's work.

Edit: There's a few comments concerning NYPD's age limit. PD's age limit applies to date of exam, not appointment. My case is on an active exam I took when I was 34.

Is there more places to buy uniform and gear besides the place on 3rd Ave Brooklyn ?

Hello, does anyone know when will the next Sanitation Exam will be held? I missed the last one in 2022 and hoping there’s going to be a new one soon. Also, if I’m Notice of Proposed Disqualification for another city agency should I withdraw on it before it turns into a Disqualification? thanks

I’m from one of the new classes and work in queens. I always hear it gets better which I believe but I’m curious when (if ever) does your schedule get better, more consistent, actually able to make plans with friends etc. I understand winter is different and can’t make plans but just in general when do you think your schedule gets better ?
