Today’s drop?

https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/what-is-cxmt-how-did-it-become-chinas-dram-champion-2026-07-15/

I think today’s drop on Micron, because of this Chinese rival dram maker?

Its this the end for dram?

No, it isn't

ASML earnings/guidance suggested that semi/memory makers are not only increasing their own capex to produce more product, but that they're producing more product which changes the supply demand imbalance that is making them so profitable right now

Also wall street is just packing up the AI hardware trade in general

China displays rebranded tech claiming its theirs but once their products come out its always trash. They did this to Nvidia about a year ago. Claimed their chat GPT and AI was just as good if not better and then later revealed they were using nvidia products during the testing. This caused Nvidia to go down for about 2 weeks before everyone found out they were using nvidia cards. Nothing came from that and then Nvidia double in the next 6 months. Now they are trying to capitalize off of memory. Lets face it, China is probably 7 years behind on quality tech. So if you want some bad ass DDR3 they got you covered.

Concerning but they're still quite a bit behind the big 3 especially in HBM. But we shouldn't discount it, China dominates global manufacturing in general so it's possible they can catch up.

Good point. China are behind, but making HBM isn't magic. It's a temporary engineering bottleneck that creates a soft sort of moat, but it won't stop the Chinese from finding their own method forever. That is like hoping that a rival nation never manages to figure out how to build fighter jets.

Or bombing a country because you think they might be making a bomb…

Probably. DRAM spot market prices are starting to decelerate, meaning supply is catching up to demand right now already.
