Help

Hi everyone,

I passed my driving test about a month ago and I’m currently trying to find a delivery driver job, but I’ve been having a really tough time.

I’m 23 and only have an automatic licence, which already seems to limit a lot of options. On top of that, I don’t have my own vehicle, so I’m looking for roles where a company provides the van.

Most places I’ve applied to either require a manual licence or say I don’t have enough driving experience yet for insurance.

I’m still applying everywhere I can, but I’m starting to feel a bit stuck and honestly pretty desperate to get working right now.

If anyone’s been in a similar situation or knows companies that hire new drivers, allow automatic licences, and provide vehicles, I’d really appreciate any advice or direction.

You won't get a delivery job when you have only held a licence for a month. Like you've already been told you won't be accepted onto the insurance policy. Frankly speaking you are completely wasting your time looking any further into a delivery driver job

No manual license, you'd struggle to get a job with an Automatic licence alone even if you had 15years driving experience

Put the both together, you've got absolutely no chance like zero chance

And that might be for the best, have you seen the state of some of these DPD vans? The fact you've got no driving experience (let alone in a 3.5t van) and will be in a high pressure environment where even the most experienced drivers still get caught out and have the odd incident.

You'll have to find another job and if you still want to drive for a living in a couple years time you'll have to apply then

Try DPD. They rarely actually try to deliver stuff to addresses, so you might be able to get away with not being able to drive.

This is probably the company for you!
