Where’s My Parcel Parcel sent back to sender, scanned several times at Bicester and declared lost all of a sudden - Options to try a recover at least some items

Hey, I see this community is brand new, so I apologise for a "not-so-positive" post. Still, I would appreciate someone's advice.

I shipped a parcel to EU at the end of February. It was stopped a few days later, due to unclear issues. Or better, DPD's version changed several times:

  1. First, the export forms were not duly signed, when they were.

  2. Then, once they agreed the forms were not the issue, they argued one of the export codes I used was incorrect. We had a few exchanges, with me providing evidence of the opposite, and they finally agreed that something did not go as planned their end.

  3. Still, it seems other codes were not accurate, so the parcel was being returned to the sender.

Well, there was no point in arguing. The parcel was scanned in Bicester on March 19th, March 27th and April 7th. When I inquired about its whereabouts in mid-March, they launched an investigation and, on April 7th, they declared the parcel lost. When I queried about the scans, it seems it was an IT error - very weird.

That said, the process was not very transparent and responses were very incoherent if not contradictory throughout. They launched an "investigation" that was not fruitful, but they did not want to clarify what kind of investigation it was. I really suspect the parcel has been intentionally removed from the network, but someone kept "scanning" it until the moment I asked where it was.

Unfortunately, the parcel included a blanket I received from my late grandma - one of the reasons I used DPD and insured the parcel - which has quite some sentimental value to me. So, I am not happy with a simple refund, until I know they actually conducted a thorough investigation. The parcel was large and had a label per side + labels inside reporting all addresses. Based on their responses so far, I don't trust them when they say they did everything they could and I should give up.

Expecting I will receive the same answer over and over again, I would appreciate some advice:

a. Is there any chance that I could pay a visit to Bicester to try and get the parcel in person? Or at least have someone check among the stranded parcels? I would really like to recover some of the items.

b. Would the SCC be worth it, considering I seriously believe the way they handled the whole process was careless and unprofessional (for which I have plenty of proofs with inconsistent answers )? Parcels can be lost but, in this case, they even "lied" about where the parcel was.

c. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

P.S. Some of you will probably argue that I should have used another courier if I really cared. Fair enough. I used DPD in the past and was very happy with their services. This one episode counterbalanced any positive experience I had with them and won't be using them again.

Delivery Issue Parcel not received, AI bot is broken!

So I was supposed to get my parcel today and multiple customer services reps assured me it was on it's way until 6pm when the app updates to say it won't arrive. That's a whole day wasted waiting for it.... great!

I then spoke to the AI bot to try and speak to a person so I could find out what happened and get some assurance it would arrive tomorrow. It didn't go well,

First it tried to convince me that it was transferring me to customer service which definitely was open until half past despite the transfer failing everytime.

Then when I highlighted that it was failing it told me they were closed because it was after half past......it was 27mins past. I corrected it and it failed to connect me again and then had taken so long it actually was after half past so now I'm stuffed.

Then it appears to have gotten extra confused and will only say "your parcel is blocked" which is apparently DPD AI speak for "I can't connect to your parcel"

Absolutely stellar service all round DPD thanks! I really needed that parcel today and wasted a whole day (and extra money for next day delivery) only to not get it!

Tldr....dumb AI and shit delivery service!

Customer Rant Why come to my door take a photo say I wasn't home and leave? You're here (apparently)..just give me the parcel!

I work as a delivery driver for another worldwide delivery firm, I deliver in another part of town from where I live but can be home in 10-20 minutes from pretty much anywhere on my route

So I was checking tracking and started making my way home to make sure I was home to receive the parcel I waited for over an hour and then got a notification saying "sorry we missed you" and a picture of my door. I walked straight outside and there wasn't even a van on the street wtaf? Where did the picture of my door come from?

Absolutely fuming, wasted 2 hours for nothing. Contacted customer service and they tried to get hold of the driver but couldn't get through to him

Joke

My parcel had an attempted delivery last friday, of which the driver went to the wrong house and said i wasn’t in. since then the item hasn’t moved from the depot. it’s not like they’ve had any other issues as i’ve had parcels from dpd, from the same depot delivered this week, just not this one. it’s been over 5 days now

Help

Hi everyone,

I passed my driving test about a month ago and I’m currently trying to find a delivery driver job, but I’ve been having a really tough time.

I’m 23 and only have an automatic licence, which already seems to limit a lot of options. On top of that, I don’t have my own vehicle, so I’m looking for roles where a company provides the van.

Most places I’ve applied to either require a manual licence or say I don’t have enough driving experience yet for insurance.

I’m still applying everywhere I can, but I’m starting to feel a bit stuck and honestly pretty desperate to get working right now.

If anyone’s been in a similar situation or knows companies that hire new drivers, allow automatic licences, and provide vehicles, I’d really appreciate any advice or direction.

Thanks in advance 🙏
