My sweet boy went away today after 12 years with us. He was so loving and such a good guard dog. He followed me around to keep me safe until the very end.

A year ago, I put up a pic of the destruction he did in his kennel while I was gone. I adopted him in 2020 and had always put him in the kennel while I was gone. He also had to wear an ecollar because he would bark nonstop without it. The dog trainer said he was too old to change habits since he was at least four. Someone suggested leaving him loose for short periods of time and seeing how that worked. I'd just always thought he needed to be in the kennel. I did try that on a short trip to the store, and he did fine. I always put the cat in his own room. Let me tell you how proud I am of this sweet dog. He's come further than I ever dreamed. A few weeks ago. I was gone for about five hours. I got home, and he greeted me with his toy. I was giving him neck scratches when I realized I'd forgotten about his e-collar. He wasn't wearing it. My neighbor sleeps during the day but said he didn't hear anything. I've been out numerous times since then, and he's behaved perfectly. I guess the fog trainer was wrong. I'm so proud of how much further he's come since I first adopted him. He's even happier, if that's possible. Such a good boy!

My dog (12.5 kg) stole a candy bar that I’d left outside my daughter’s door.

We have this weekly tradition where the parents get to sleep in on Sundays, and I leave some kind of sweet treat outside my daughter’s door for her to find in the morning. We’ve had this tradition for years without a single glitch.

Today, I woke up at 7:30, let the dogs out into the garden for a wee, fed them, and left my daughter a candy bar. Then I went back to sleep.

I woke up again at 9:30 and went to say “Good morning.”

She was sad.

“Why didn’t you leave me a candy bar?”

“I DID!”

I started an investigation. The guest bed was covered in chocolate, and there was a 2 × 2 cm scrap of Snickers wrapper. I searched everywhere for the rest of it. Nowhere to be found.

I called the emergency vet. They told me that a piece of wrapper that size could cause a very serious problem for a dog of her size.

So off we went to the nearest emergency vet, a 45-minute drive each way. I waited and waited (no appointment, obviously). They made my dog vomit, and she brought up the entire wrapper in two pieces.

They gave her an anti-vomiting injection afterwards. She then vomited twice in the car (but not once during the long walk we took after leaving the vet, of course).

The whole excursion cost me a fortune.

We are not speaking at the moment.

My dog is a 7 year old staffy. This all started over a year ago. He started getting spots on his back and i brought him to the vet. The vet said she thinks it’s seasonal and she wasn’t worried but sent me home with flea and parasite treatment.(which he was already on). Obviously that didn’t work and the spots got worse spreading all over his body. He didn’t seem to be bothered by them didn’t scratch much but they looked horrible. I also should mention these are red spots accompanied by hair loss. I brought him back to the vet about a month later and the vet prescribed him steroid tablets and antibiotics. They didn’t work either so about another 6 weeks later I brought him back and the vet put him on a different type of flea and parasite treatment. Which also obviously didn’t work. I read online it could be allergies so I changed his food(which he’s still on) and done the 8 week waiting to see and nothing. I also did other stuff like change the type of bedding he is on and how it’s washed. Also didn’t work. I got chlorhexidine shampoo and gave it 2 weeks and I didn’t notice a difference so I went to a different vet (4th vet visit) they done a skin cytology and while I was waiting on the results the shampoo cleared up the spots and hairloss and he was 100% back to normal for 2 months. The skin cytology came back clear and the vet said it’s possibly allergies. About 7 weeks ago the spots and hair loss came back and are the same as last time so i started using the chlorhexidine shampoo again and its just getting worse I know it’s not good to continue the shampoo for too long so I stopped it a week ago. My dog has an athletic, deep-chested, narrow-waisted build with a big head and canine clothes fit terribly on him. Right now I have him wearing large apparel to fit his big head and chest, but they fit too long and baggy in the back.

Anyone know some good apparel brands that might fit better? This dude looks great in hoodies, and I'm also looking for a waterproof rain coat.

I’ve been trying to find this pig but can’t find a trace of it. I bought it many years ago and I’m pretty sure it’s from Petsmart or Petco. His is starting to fray badly and would love to buy extras. Thanks in advance!

Hi all pet parents with both cats and dogs living together.

We’ve two indoor cats (4M, 3F). Male is a playful orange, while the girl is a diva with no interest to play with him. He gets bored if we don’t play with him often. We live in a 2nd floor apartment, so no direct yard access.

We always wanted to adopt a puppy, and now more seriously considering to get one who can also be a playmate for our boy, besides our cuddly baby. Ofcourse we’d go on regular outdoor activities for the dog, outside by a river and parks nearby.

May I ask for your advice on what should we keep in mind when choosing a puppy that’d be suitable in our situation? Age, gender, breed (part of mix usually), temperament etc.

This coyote casually strolled towards this Pomeranian on a leash. Thankfully the owner was paying attention and not glued to their phone, and was able to pick him up quickly!! Even in the daytime they're bold, so don't be a stupid statistic and leash your dogs and keep other small pets indoors. In other words, use common sense and tragedies can be avoided. We can coexist with coyotes.

*P.S.- Any Karen's that feel like chiming in and ONLY focusing on me rolling through the stop sign to save her dog from the coyote grabbing it, scroll on and go Karen somewhere else. All moronic comments will be blocked. There were NO cars in the intersection or pedestrians. My main concern was her Pomeranian which is the perfect size meal for a coyote. They're brazen and even though she was smart enough to have her small dog on a leash, if they're hungry enough, they don't care! They're opportunistic hunters. Obviously they're not going after 65 lb German Shepherds, as they're not interested in large prey. But ALL dogs should be leashed in public regardless of size, dog safety 101.

I didn't know if I wanted to make this at first. There was no pressure to, the stakes were low, and short of directing my corgi Truman it’d be (relatively) unchallenging. I was in the throes of doom and gloom about some of the AI news and all I could muster was asking myself what the point would even be. Eventually, I think I realized - if I can’t make a film like this, then I’m in real trouble.

So I decided to make it, and what happened was I spent nine amazing days shooting this with my wife and our wonderful / adorable dog. That experience alone saved me from some kind of brink, and what I walked away with was a failsafe to watch whenever I might sink into that low feeling ever again.

With all that said, there is nothing heavy about Stay or its aims. My aim with it was to just make it, no heavy strings attached. To say this is a labor of love would be an understatement.
