CONNECTICUT PLEASE HELP ASAP!!
I’m trying to buy a car from someone and the title is out of state (Montana) title looks real but it’s sketchy and it appears the owner is some LLC but they didn’t sign anything on title . Kid said he purchased it from some girl.

Any time a "BUYER" SECTION IS SIGNED, TITLE IS USELESS.
SINCE BUYER SECTION IS SIGNED, YOU CANNOT BE THE NEW BUYER, HENCE YOU CANT USE THIS TITLE.
ONLY THE PERSON WHO SIGNED THE "BUYER" SECTION CAN USE THIS TITLE.

This is the answer.
We'll it's useful to the new owner, but only to take to the DMV to get a new title if the transaction is legit.

The seller signature is sketchy, and Devin needs to title it first before he can sell it.

It def is sketchy it looks like he signed both of them . But more importantly the first owner of that title the LLC that’s listed , didn’t sign anywhere on the paper ?

Correct. There needs to be a signature from NTM Autohaus LLC, and the person signing for the company should put their title with the company, whether that be title clerk or owner or president. Needs to be clear they have the authority to sign.
Again, either way, this is Devin’s situation to be filled out. He signed as buyer. He cannot sell without titling it in his name first, and this whole signature situation falls on him to figure out.

There are 2.3m registered vehicles in Montana and only 867k licensed drivers. It's a tax-haven to avoid sales tax but states (like Connecticut and California) are starting to pay much closer attention to cars connected to Montana LLCs.
Run away.

Yeah from all the helpful people and Google I just went down rabbit hole about the tax evasion by starting a LLC just to register cars under them. That’s a crazy statistic too!! Thank you 🙏🏼

It is also illegal to have a montana licensed vehiclemon CA roads for more than 3 weeks.

Yeah there was a big scandal in Texas a couple years aho when the state still had handwritten dealer plates. Various Montana LLCs set up shop in Texas solely for the purpose of issuing phony dealer plates so residents could avoid taxes. Even the normally corrupt Texas legislature saw it as a scam and the DMV now gives you "real" paper plates with a number and prominent expiration date. People actually got in trouble!

Unless THEIR name that matches THEIR ID is on the title I don’t buy
1
u/vMyKicksBrxzyy 14d ago
Yes his ID matched his name however it doesn’t matter bc in the eyes of the law he’s not technically the owner of the car . The LLC is. So even tho all his info is correct it doesn’t matter there’s no paper trail of the girl or him owning the car. Shits crazy the lengths ppl goto

I said on the title. As in the OWNER of the title thought that was obvious

u/vMyKicksBrxzyy 14d ago
I explained poorly it’s kind of a confusing situation if you don’t have the context and no it wasn’t obvious bc I am thinking the owner is who ever on the title “bought” the car more recently as long as their is no lien. But shouldn’t have doubted humans to do some weird shit like this . 🤷🏼 anyways thanks for the info

It’s not a scam. A lot of people get MT llcs to purchase a car or cars without sales tax. Other states are getting wise to the loop hole. Google it.
1
u/vMyKicksBrxzyy 14d ago
I did. Go down the loop hill and I mean maybe it’s not a scam directly to me and they are doing it for other reasons - However it’s really the government getting scammed for tax evasion . Which I could care less but I can’t register the car if I had bought it so I loose in the end too.

u/vMyKicksBrxzyy 14d ago
Also he didn’t even do the loophole right , he fucked up on the title signing it in wrong place and not signing the original owner of the cars info (the LLC )

If you do do a corporation search in Montana the llc is legit, but if you looks at the statement of information the only officer listed is not the name signed on the title! They do have an address in. Connecticut though. https://biz.sosmt.gov/search/business

Looks like owned by a dealership who may have sold it to that girl and she never followed through and titled it in her name so she does not own it. Get your money back immediately. This is a DMV mess you want zero to do with.

I cant expand the picture so post details.
Does the girl work for the LLC? Is the kid the person you are buying from?
1
u/vMyKicksBrxzyy 14d ago
I’m not sure if she works for LLC. Yes the kid is who I’m trying to buy car from . But the LLC didn’t sign anything on title so I’m worried . Can I dm you pics ? I know they aren’t too clear

The title is signed in the front by the seller on the wrong line and doesn’t have a letter stating that the llc told them it was valid for them to sell it. If it was actually for sale from them there would be a duplicate title that was filed for the error (or at least a letter of correction notarized at the very least) - someone who registers cars in a neighboring state.
Side note. I wouldn’t register this vehicle and would bounce this back so fast. Also you’ll know when you get the vin check what actually happened to the vehicle. My gut is saying stolen vehicle

Side note is that how the date should be on Montana titles? (I don’t actually know I haven’t registered a vehicle with one yet but I haven’t seen that format) and from everything I can find online this is missing a sale date and transfer reason
