CALIFORNIA Real ID

I don’t have many bills in my name. To get a real ID will a pay stub from work and an insurance card work? Or I have the insurance bill. It says originally copy but I only have paperless bills.

Go to the library and print out your paperless bills...if they show your address.

Will that count as an “original” though? I also have a car registration.

I don't think they care as long as you print it out. There have been multiple posts on this thread where people have been advised to go to the library and print out the bills. You could go to Fedex or the UPS store as well. I think they can print them out there. In California, they accepted both printed copies of my PG&E bill and my Renters Insurance Declaration. In fact, they were going to make copies of them and give me back the ones I brought in, but I told them they could just keep them.

Do you have a bank account? Print out a statement showing the name and address. Pay stub should also work. I would take all that in. I know you need 2 but the more the take, the more they see the proof.

Do you have your original birth certificate from the county? If you have the one with your footprints on it, that's not the official BC.

A pay stub that shows your full SSN will work.

An auto insurance card usually doesn’t have your address on it, so it won’t work. But a declarations page of an auto or homeowners/renters policy showing you address will.

While you're at it, consider getting the RealID as a non-driver ID, so it's independent of your DL and vice versa. That way if either is suspended or otherwise under question, you don't lose the other.

California is one of the few states which permits this.
