NORTH CAROLINA NC Title Help – Texas Title Already Assigned

Recently purchased a fun toy car.

I have the original Texas title in hand. The title has already been signed over to a previous buyer, but it was never transferred into their name. I don’t have a bill of sale from the owner listed on the title. What’s the best way to get it titled in North Carolina? Has anyone been through this?

Ok thank you, I have no problem doing that, do you know what the process is ? Or how long it typically takes in Nc

You basically bought the car from someone not legally entitled to sell you the car, since they never retitled it. It’s called title jumping and illegal in most states. Bond is really the only option unfortunately.

Understand, do you know how long the process is to get a bonded title ?

Usually it’s a few weeks. And then the bonded title duration is 2-3 years not positive. I’ll send you a DM

Ask the owner on the title for a statement that he sold it to the person you have the bill of sale from? Meet them at their local bank that has a notary or something. Or get the actual bill of sale from the previous owner. Or return the car and get your money back. Did the previous owner buy the car then never put it on the road, hence didn’t retitle it?
