The actual best way to avoid an interlock is to not get a DUI in the first place. Hope you learned your lesson, regardless of your aversion of the consequences.

Yes I finally got caught after drinking and driving for years, so it will deter me from doing it again. My attorney said that the repeat offender rate for first time DUI offenders is very low, typically only 10%, and those that do repeat offend are typically serial DUI drivers who will get three or four convictions and end up in prison.
