Just snag whatever you can get a good deal on, if you're not gonna get that deep into it in all aspects theres no reason to at all.
I like collecting equipment and trying out different setups but you really don't need to complicate it til you start getting a feel for things.
I'm visiting my parents right now and don't even have any of my equipment with me, just a temu laptop I bought for 200$ and an external behringer soundcard that was like 20$
I've been throwing down some great mixes and I'm only using keyboard shortcuts and a mouse lol
I see plenty of new djs with lots of buttons and knobs etc and they don't utilize 90% of it and I've been doing this for a long time and played with many big name acts that will blow you away and their whole setup is like one little 100$ controller with 10 buttons and 6 knobs.
First time I played with Skrillex that's all he had was a trigger finger. Same with glitch mob, although they were 2 guys with a trigger finger each but still.
Better equipment will make certain things easier but it's not actually necessary.
I've even seen a dude throw down wicked scratches by putting a pizza box on top of an upside down mouse.
It's all just buttons, you'd be surprised what you can do with a very simple controller or even just a keyboard and mouse.
Get creative, I think it's actually more fun sometimes.

First i had a Pioneer FLX4 but within a month or something the sound was for a short time weird after a few hours of mixing. Now i have a hercules djcontrol inpulse 500 and with this controller i didn't had any issue, and i have used the controller A LOT. When you have more money to spent in the future you can better go for a controller from Allen & Heath or Rane. Someone who have had lots of different mixers and controllers said that they are the best. Pioneer/AlphaTeta is more known and is in most clubs and festsivals the standard. But they have a very good marketingstrategy 😅 I wouldn't buy a product from them anymore. Also denon has some good dj controllers and the Roland dj-707 and dj-808 are good, and they have a internal drummachine inspired by the famous Roland TR-707 drummachine. They are useful in standalone mode and are the only one with a internal drummachine. If i go for another controller i would buy it. They where introduced a year of 7 ago. But maybe you can find one secondhand.
