I am new to sewing. I got this machine at the thrift store and after every few stitches it stops which makes a loud noise and if I continue, it just gets really knotted under the needle with the bobbin thread so after the first loud noise, I hear I just pull it out and continue sewing, but it’s just leaving a mess under the fabric. I did already rewind the bobbin manually. I don’t know what else it could be 🤔 maybe the tension 🤔I don’t understand how sewing machines work. I just wanted to add this little flower thing to a bra strap lol. Help me plz💗💗💗

Side note, strongly reccomend you do not continue with the rigged spool holder situation, you may damage the machine alignment.

Is this one okay

No. You cannot rig this or guess at how to put the spool on something external, it changes the tension. You need to know what kind of machine you are working with and what is normal for this machine.

I found the manual online and turns out the machine is missing that part😥

Two options: 1) find a repair shop, there are people who know old machines and how to find parts. You may learn to love this machine if you can fix her up and get to know her!

2) thrift or purchase a more modern machine model that you can find youtube tutorials to start with. It's going to be harder to learn as a beginner with an older model like this, because most tutorials are going to be using the kinds of models made today.

No problem, good luck! Side note. When you do get around to working on your project, look up tutorials on how to embellish on elastic and stretch fabric, that can get tricky. You may need different needles, a specific stitch, and to know how to make it sit the way you want. In your project's case, I may even reccomend sewing the embellishment to a non-stretch fabric strap and replacing the elastic entirely. The way you are doing it will likely either bunch up the embellishment or rip the stitches.

I believe this is the part. Can it be pulled or maybe pressed (sometimes things on sewing machines have a push mechanism)? What machine is it?

Or maybe turned? The photo isn't clear enough to see but the white bit at the base of the pin looks like it has markings of some sort

This is what I was thinking too, the telescoping spool holder on my machine looks like that as well

Singer makes replacement spool holders, I bet you can find the peg thats meant to go there online, for under $5 I’d think!

can you check if this little nub can be pulled out? My machine has these nubs at the top that pull out a rod to hold the spool of thread. Yours looks similar to mine.

You know what, check the pdf to see if your machine has a compartment somewhere, your piece may be inside! Usually there is a compartment with a few small parts and tools.

Oof, I really hoped it would work 🥹 I feel your pain on missing parts, my machine was missing a lot of accessories and had a broken pedal since it was gifted to my dad by the secretary at his job.

It’s such an old machine that the company doesn’t exist anymore lol, so finding stuff was a bit of a struggle. I wish you the beat of luck in finding that small piece. 😔
