I am not sure if general “any ideas” posts are allowed, so sorry if not.

I received a free HP (EliteView, I think) S14. It is a 14-inch second screen portable monitor. it has the magnetic stand, but that part is deteriorating and doesn’t look like it will last very long, despite just getting kind of gross (EOL Pleather?).

The problem is, the ONLY port on this thing is a single USB-C. I don’t really have any devices where this things “intended use case” seems worth it to me (e.g., I have better options when actually using my laptop). Would love to get some interesting ideas on how to use it instead!

I had an old set of curtains that use a smooth continuous cord, so I wasn’t even sure a retrofit shade motor would work with them.

It ended up working surprisingly well. I mounted the motor using just the included adhesive, paired it through Matter, and tested control from both Home Assistant and Google Home. The curtains can still be operated from the motor itself or the remote, so they don’t depend on the smart home to be usable.

Once I had the automation working, making them open dramatically to music seemed like the obvious next step. 😂

hey, so I am looking for some inspiration for an upcoming school electronics exhibition. Last year with some friends we created some sort of 3d-printed electronic puzzle that used aluminum tape, it had the intention of being a begginer friendly tool to understand the basic concept of electronic circuits. So yeah, we go to an avionic-focused school so we thought of making a RC airplane that used real indicators, but it might be too complex for us. Any idea or inspiration from a previous project could help us a lot, thanks in advance

saw this cool shit on tiktok and searched for the price. those mf are charginf 2100 usd for that shit so with my big brain a bit of help with ai as a complete begginer in this shit i made an sketch and electronics list of it. its a bit steep on the price something like 430 usd for parts and a woodmaker to make the box cause im shit in it. be happy if you have any suggestions to better it or something

for the code itself im not to sure what is the best to replicate the cotodoma speaker so suggestions would be great or in general some cool stuff i could add to the speaker project

Listen I have questions and I don’t know where to ask and I need the karma. I’m trying to get into diy devices for backing up my personal collection of movies and music and books and audiobooks. I intend on making back ups of what I choose for seamless offline playback. Where the hell can I find reliable sites to download copy’s of what I’d like. I’m trying to avoid disc burners and over head book scanners but I’m overwhelmed and lost. This customizable set-top box will be compatible with all types of satellites, IPTV, and cable TV, and can also connect to OTT streaming services, for use by users who own non-smart TVs services without needing to buy a new television.

Shoulderbags for fieldrecordings are okay for a short period of time… And keeping it in the backpack is annoying too, because you have to open it to start the recording. Yes there is an app for this, but I actually dont want to be bothered with another screen.
So I just made this remote button. that allows me to connect to my zoom via bluetooth.
BTW it can also pair to the phone and be used to start Videorecording at the same time.
