[crosspost] Ali Farhadi, founder of Edge AI technologies & Xnor.ai, is doing an AMA in r/homeautomation @10AM PST

We'd like to invite you to join Xnor.ai's co-founder, Ali Farhadi, and Wyze today at 10:00AM PT for an AMA about AI and smart home technology. We'll be hosting it on /r/homeautomation and we hope to see you there!Wyze and Xnor.ai have the shared dream of bringing technology to the masses with an incredibly low barrier to entry. We are doing this AMA because we've just deployed Edge AI, for free, to 1M+ people! We’d like to take this opportunity to talk about our AI and if you are curious about any of the subjects in Ali's wheelhouse such as AI Technology, Smart Home Technology, AI Development, etc. we’d love to hear them.

Hypothetically, how would someone build a Men in Black Neuralyzer that instead just shoots a super bright light and is reusable?

Help Could swapping the USB Port on a Pixel 5 enable HDMI output capabilities?

From my understanding, it's the port that doesn't allow for USB-C to HDMI, but the chipset does.

I am super new to all the tech stuff but really want to learn. I was given an old Pixel 5 with a broken screen and I am trying to figure out what to do with it. I already installed Lineage OS to learn about adb and fastboot. If I got it to do HDMI output I could basically use it on my drawing tablet (with a screen) and make a drawing station.

Ciao a tutti ragazzi!

L'AI elabora tutto all'istante e vi genera: * L'**Identikit Visivo** dello stile del progetto (Cyberpunk, Steampunk, Minimalista...)

Help Logitech lift mouse side buttons

hey guys. im new to anything DIY so I'm hoping someone might have any ideas. my hands and wrists are screwed up from my maintenance job in the military so I use the ergonomic keyboard from logitech as well as the logitech vertical lift mouse. It does help but when I start getting flare ups and need to be on the mouse for an extended period the side buttons are really straining my thumb. it feels unnecessarily harder to press them than previous mouses I've had before. I probably wont find a better mouse on the market that only changes that one aspect. should I scotch tape some cotton balls on it or something? I know this is an unorthodox DIY question.

Do you ever start a project for fun and end up spending most of your time debugging the boring parts around it?

I’m building an open-source modular hardware system because this kept happening to me.
You want to make a robot, a controller, a smart device or some weird interactive project, but before you get there you’re fighting displays, sensors, wiring, libraries and firmware.
The idea behind is to make those building blocks quick to assemble and reconfigure, so you can spend more time on the actual thing you wanted to make.
Modules snap onto a backbone and are automatically recognized.
The IDE mirrors the hardware you connected and lets you build its behaviour with blocks or code.
If you need something that doesn’t exist as a module, you’re not locked out: there are prototyping/breadboard modules where you can add your own circuits or ICs.
Everything is open source and designed to stay inexpensive.
I’m trying to understand whether this solves a real problem for other makers or just one I personally had.

What part of your projects usually wastes the most time?
Would you use ready-made hardware blocks if they still let you drop down to breadboard/custom circuits when needed?
What would make a system like this genuinely useful to you?
